Any consideration ever given to extending the model year of cars allowed to be listed for sale in the HAMB ? A 1965 Mustang, for example, is now 60 years old. Arguably one of the most popular models ever built supported by its sales of over 1 million cars in under 3 years; April 64 through the 66 model year.

Extending the model year just 1 year to 1965 would bring a huge number of classic car lovers, collectors, restorers into this site who do not use it now. More people to buy & sell parts and cars & learn from those with more experience wrenching. I can't see how that isn't a good thing. ?

  2. I can’t speak for Ryan, it’s his joint. But being around here for 18 years I’m gonna say that’s probably a hard No.

HAMB is about hot rods & customs ...
    Mustangs are neither.

  4. I think Mustangs are beyond the pale even for the off topic forum.

I don’t think the OT forum is for posting a for sale ad.
But maybe one can put it in their sig line?

  8. I'd post the ad. If it gets to a sale, great.
If it gets taken down, we'll know the correct answer.

I can tell you it will be deleted. I've tried

  10. Did it occur to anyone to actually read the rules in the classified section? Bet the answer may be there.

I'm almost certain the cutoff here is 1965. Didn't Ryan have a 65 Rivi for awhile ?
No offense intended, but this isn't the place for Mustangs regardless of cutoff dates.

There are a gazillion sites for all the reasons you mentioned for Mustang people to connect.
I'll bet nowhere was a Mustang described as a traditional hot rod

There are no Mustangs allowed period also while the cut off here is 1965, it is 1964 in the classifieds.

Maybe he should not post the ad. The guidelines here are very clear. Why just make waves and create work for the moderators??? Just go where the Mustang people are. They have their own gigs.

  17. I have an idea for @Ryan, maybe he could post the rules for each forum section next to a big red stop sign…nah that would never work.

  24. I have to say I would like to keep this site hot rods obviously it's not my site so I have no say so in it but if anybody that's reading this needs an opinion on the subject that is mine.
I would like it honestly to kind of remain the same setup other than maybe a "slightly off topic" section for the 65 through 1980 ish era a hot rods/street rods because let's be real street rods of the late '60s and early '70s and show rods are effing badass!!! Even if they aren't from the Golden age).
I'm a true car guy I pretty much like everything that has been modified with an engine (owner built not bought) and a lot of stock stuff that is arguably to most people a vintage car has its place too including a nice restored muscle car like a Mustang or that goofy AMC matador from the mid '70s that looks kind of like a fish... I even like some of the mini trucks Heck I currently own one that I built from junk.

That being said I don't want to see a Mustang page mixed in with the "celebrating 85 years of the 1940 ford" or a Chevelle page mixed in with the "what traditional roadster does it for you". This site is all about hot rods and the history of hot rodding I think it is great that it now has an off-topic section because almost all of us have off topic cars that we occasionally wrench on and it's good to see what my fellow hambers are messing with and It's just another way for us to virtually hang out especially when some of us are on different continents.

The reason for the Must be built before_____________ is the frigging 65 Mustangs and similar cars. that changed the whole landscape of the car hobby.

There is plenty of market area for the things without posting them here even though over the past 46 years I have told more than one Dad who wanted to get an "old car" for a dad and kid restoration project to buy a first Gen Mustang simply because of parts availability and the fact that you can get most of your money back when you loose interest in it. No need for that nonsense here.

Cooks garage has a car show here locally every spring and it’s 63 and older. I can’t take my 65 Plymouth fury but I can take my 49 Chevy. That’s alright, because I don’t care to see a bunch of mustangs and other muscle cars there anyway. When the open show in the fall comes it a free for all. Take it where it belongs. All cars have their place and that’s ok with me.
