Greetings everyone! I spent my adolescence dreaming about building the perfect hotrod, then life intervened. Now, six decades later I’m back at it. I bought a 1940 LaSalle a couple years ago, moved to TN, and started dreaming again. For now I plan to make it go, stop, and steer properly, but having looked at the limited options available for goosing the Caddy flathead, I’m thinking about trading out for a Caddy 500 with a TH400 down the road. The interesting thing about my LaSalle is that the firewall plate reads 50-27 but the car is a convertible. .. and with dual side mount covers, but not wells. There are welds evident in the door jambs and windshield frame; filler between the top well and trunk lid. The interior is black leather, I think, in the correct pattern, but the trim code reads grey leather. Engine and frame numbers batch. I’m wondering if this coupe is married to one of the six 6 wheel convertibles produced in the 50 series 1940. The car went through several hands in a short time frame and the seller had no information. Any ideas for sorting it out?
...From the song, "One Piece at a Time". Apparently you aren't a Cash fan. Great looking LaSalle. Looks too nice to turn into a hot-rod, but would make a nice one for sure.
