Yes it was. I was there to witness the spectacle, I still think they were piping in some funny chemicals that made people raise their hands and buy items for stupid money. There were definitely some decent buy’s if you knew what to look for, although I did see some lots that went for way more cash than they were worth. I never raised my bidders card.

Can you picture one of these with a small block Chevy stuffed in it? Now that would be an interesting altered…

Imagine a world with no Henry Ford.....This stuff really appeals to me. I would love to have something like this, but sadly, any cars like this in the States are only in museums, and the bits and bobs to assemble one are nowhere to be seen.

I was fascinated with the idea of a Special and a Cycle Car. I came up with kind of combination that I have been working on. It features a Harley Davidson engine coupled to a gm 700r automatic transmission. This is a work in progress with lots of one off parts. At my age I needed something to keep my hands and my mind together.

Here is the side view. I have a long ways to go but I am enjoying the job. Everything about it will minimalistic. It will be licensed and street legal.

Not entirely off topic, but I remember magazine coverage of Oakland '78, a cute, little T bucket with either a cycle or quarter midget engine ....Anyone else remember this?

I wanted that car so bad, hell I still do. It was also at the Lodi grape festival rod run. It was a few motels down from where we were staying. I was sitting out front of our motel watching the cars go buy. He pulled out from his motel amd got on it. I swear it lifted the front wheels a few inches in first and second. I'm pretty sure it was Honda 750 powered with the 750 tranny and a Harley trike rearend. I might be wrong about the rearend, but what else would you use back in 78?

Here is the engine /transmission cradle or inner frame that I fabricated from aluminum. It will be mounted to the frame and isolated by rubber mounts. This was challenging for me as I had to figure out what I needed, and then make the parts. Coupling the engine to the transmission and keeping everything in alignment is fun.

My brother cautions me often that, sometimes a project likes this walks the fine line of, is it a hot rod or a tractor.

Unfortunately I think this project is borderline HAMB friendly. Sometimes a project like this is not acceptable and I have not posted about the build. I thank you for the interest. We will see if my post survive.

Just the torque convertor in the automatic transmission. I think that this will be smoother than the Harley Davidson compensator but I do not know for sure. This is all experimental stuff for me.
