Just ran across this when watching a YouTube vid on the Stanley Steamer Rocket. Interesting proto streamliner. 1902 Baker Electric Torpedo 'Kid' 999. https://macsmotorcitygarage.com/this-car-went-100-mph-in-1902-and-it-was-electric/ View attachment 6424575 View attachment 6424566 View attachment 6424567 View attachment 6424573
I was watching "Antiques Roadshow" a week or so ago, and Fred Marriott's granddaughter was on. She had an incredible collection of memorabilia from this period in racing that the family had saved over the intervening years. A few months before that, a descendant of Howdy Wilcox (a famous oval track racer from back in the day) was on with the same situation. I have also seen others that I can't currently bring up, including one guy who raced for Oldsmobile in the first decade of the century that also had an incredible collection. It makes you wonder how much racing history is out there just out of the public's reach.
