Trunk lid flames: which way?

Since this thread has been revived, I’m in the “flames should all go the same way camp”. Some of the ones @swade41 posted that go backwards on the decklid work, but I still prefer them to all look like they start at the front. That is also my preference on scallops, although there are even more examples of those looking great going “backwards”. Oh, and I still want to flame a whole car someday. I just need to find the right car to do it. This is a pic I saved for inspiration when my son had his chopped shoebox. They work really well on those cars in my opinion.



Oh, and a good friend’s Merc. It looks correct as well.

I think any flow art looks best,if it looks like it is coming from a place it should,an going away from that,maybe from the wind.
I did my own many times on my racecars{was kind of a way for fans too pick me out in a race for close too 40 years of racing.
One time that I redid,after a repair,painted along with the flames,a Dragon on hood n right front fender,with the flames blowing out the mouth. This turn out looking good,but fellow race driver would try to kill the Dragon. So after replacing the right front fender and repaint 3 times!! I gave up,an just went back too flames only!!

 

Bottom up ..fire started under the bumper ..
