it is not worth anything. I cannot imagine there would be any “profits” from selling a chiwanese steering wheel from Speedway motors. Unless you happen to be in the market for one?

Thanks for the additional info. That is super informative and helpful.
I do cheat a little and use a conversational mill at work to setup and execute the turning. I spend a few mins programming and the spacings come out perfect. Reading your instructional, I really feel like it is cheating. Damn.

I am not sure the spokes are wide enough to leave a border, but I am gonna try it. I sure like the way it came out on your projects. That is some home-brewed Badassery on display in your post.

Thank you again! That is exactly the type of info I was hoping for when I posted!

That's a fine compliment right there! I started doing this only a couple of years ago based on info I gleaned from the HAMB. Since then, I have done tons of projects on my cars. I'm a certified engine turned junkie! It doesn't fingerprint, it doesn't smudge, it hides imperfections and like you said, it doesn't reflect sunlight back in your face.

I just use my drill press with a grid I laid out in sharpie, a couple of clamps and a straight edge. A mill would be nice, but I don't own one. Check this out, I did these breathers on one of my cars. I did this by holding the breather with my hands and lifting it into the Cratex spinning in the drill press. Completely by hand. You can handle this steering wheel. I look forward to seeing the results. If you mess up, just sand and polish...like a magic eraser.

  4. Here’s another solution you didn’t ask for: sprint cars have vinyl padding that snaps over the steering wheel. Easy to install and remove when you want to show off your wheel.

Vinyl sleeves that Velcro on would work. Like a handlebar center pad on a snowmobile.

There is a guy in CO that does the engine turning for 32 & 33 Ford gauge panels. He requires that the panel be chromed ,then he does the engine turning. Here is a pic of the panel he did for my friend in FL.First pic is the chromed panel sent to the engine turner.
