Yes, I know the photo quite well. While the family was from Gaston County, the photo was taken in Henderson County, about 80 miles away. And the coupe is not a 31, note the hood and the door hinges, it is a 29. The internet is wonderful when the information is correct! Mountains are merely foothills in Gaston. The beginning of mountain passes noted in the article start at Saluda, just below Hendersonville.
