John, I do have Louie, he is the oldest of the bunch. Didn't your son buy a Challenger down here ? Great to see him working on cars. Here is Louie guarding the dash plaques on my desk. See you at the races ! IMG_6298.JPG

We had a beautiful cat like that one, we named him Bigfoot as he had six toes on his front feet.

Karl was the painter at the local Chevrolet dealer, a couple of my high school pals knew him, I went with one of them to look at a 57 BelAir he had just painted, black if I recall, it was a beauty.

Okay I’ll add mt wife’s last cat, Penuchi. She was a rescue and about 11 pounds under all that fluff. Don’t know if you can see her feet clearly, she was polydactyl, all 4 feet! One of the last times I took her in for a manicure/pedicure, I asked the vet tech, who was new at the practice, what she thought of the feet. Her response was when she got to 20 toenails trimmed, and hadn’t started on the 4th foot, she stopped counting.

And thanks Marty for the advice. I reread your entire thread again, and looked at the NHRA rule book. I’m to contact the area’s tech person for further advice, however, I see an easy way to make a similar arrangement in my car. Now to buy another set of dies, and some 1-3/4 dom. It should also be viable for the other uses I intend for the car.

Dave you can’t go wrong with more dies, mine is 6-5/8 centerline. I made shoe liners to bend 1-5/8 and 1-1/2 tube with the same die.

Funny thing Marty. I have the 1-1/2 and 1-5/8 dies. And smaller ones as well. Just never thought I’d need larger.

Thought there would be a Louie in the mix. My son's Challenger was purchased by him up North in our neck of the woods. He called me one day at work and said, "Dad I'm going to sell my WRX and buy a Challenger, I've wanted one since I was a little boy." My reply, "Are you sure son you have a ton of work in that car." He was 21 at the time, sold the Subaru and we started looking. Found an old drag car that had not too many sins committed against it. A good one, 1970, RT 440 four speed car, needed a ton of work but he stuck with it and 5 years later has a really cool car. I'm mighty proud of that young man, can you tell! Take care and we'll see you at Toutle.

I stopped by to see my friends at DVC Machine, Dennis and Dave are doing a great job on the 327 for the RPU. It is a culmination of parts from friends and family. The block was given to me by John Rigert, a std bore 1966-275 HP. The crankshaft was out of a stash of parts from my late friend Frank Lynch. Dave decked and bored it .030 to fit the Keith Black pistons, and re-conditioned a set of rods. After balancing the assembly, Dennis installed a Schneider solid, flat tappet cam, 1.6 rockers, and a set of Edelbrock heads, all from a couple of engines my brother Jerry owned and raced. It will be topped off with a fresh Hilborn Injection and a Vertex Magneto. It should carry the little truck to 7 flat in the 1/8th and 11 flat in the 1/4. Now to take it totally apart to powdercoat the chassis.

    I took the truck apart for chassis welding, and then it's off to sandblast and powdercoat. IMG_1673.jpg IMG_1672.jpg IMG_1668.jpg IMG_1669.jpg IMG_1670.jpg IMG_1671.jpg IMG_1666.jpg IMG_1665.jpg IMG_1667.jpg IMG_1664.jpg IMG_1662.jpg

I like how you re-forced the ladder bar crossmember and ladder bar pick up points by triangulating them into the transmission cross member and mount. Very stout with minimum material used. Nice work as always.

  14. Sometime back I marked a date at Woodburn on July 12 & 13 this year. Something about, "first time out" for a Roadster Pick-up. Is that still in reach?
