    I had fifty years in the sign trade and have seen a lot of pictures of sign shops back in the twenties. They often dressed like that, ties and all. Made me glad I worked when I did. :)

    Everyone dressed like that all the time except farmers. Look at people on assembly lines building cars.

    I always wondered if a century ago if that guy wore those same trousers damn near every day, same for shirts and coats - like living out of a suitcase but at home.
     
  17. Back then most people didn’t like looking sloppy when out in public.
    Nowadays everyone’s Sunday best looks like they came from the beach. People are slobs today.
     
  18. Early on those were the only clothes that they owned.
