Well, of course, you're entitled to your opinion. The automobile industry is full of dreamers with big plans and little to no execution. So is the magazine industry. HotRod, CarCraft, Street Rodder, Street Rod Builder, Hemming's Classic car-I've lost subscription money on them all. With TRJ, I made a calculated investment/donation when I bought a Lifetime subscription. I hoped, but wasn't expecting anything, that I could keep something worthwhile alive and it was money I could afford to lose. So while I have not gotten issues quarterly, what I have gotten is great and I count myself ahead in this game. Looking forward to #87 whenever it arrives. #Cheerleader

  2. ..Even if I never get another issue (which I hope isn't the case) I have gotten my money's worth. $200 well spent. Keep the Faith, Steve.

Does anyone have the link or email address where I can send the “Where’s my stuff” email? I have only received one issue since they started putting out new books.

  4. After sending 3 emails from links on this site without reply I then sent an email with the "Wheres My Stuff" in the subject from the Rodders Journal website....... wwwroddersjournal.com and am still waiting for a reply............andyd

  5. You aren't alone Andy, I've sent emails for 5 years. I got a response when issue 86 came out they took the info of what I was missing postal address etc. and I haven't heard anything since. I've started emailing again weekly after that "wheres my stuff" request came about.

Why is EVERYTHING about the TRJ so difficult? It shouldn't be.

It's proving to be a good study into just how long you can treat clients badly before they abandon hope.

Understaffed, underfunded, a reach that exceeds their gasp. But when it works there's nothing that can compare

I'm really wrestling with this. I love the TRJ and have all of their issues. I respect that there a few folks trying to keep print media alive in this age of digital everything.

I do find that once I read an issue, I generally don't pick it up again.

On the other hand, I have been really impressed with the folks at Hop Up. They do one, outstanding annual and I find I go back to these frequently. Hop Up also seems to feature cars that are obtainable by the average guy. I started to get the feeling that TRJ's was straying from that a bit.

Don't get me wrong, I am rooting for TRJ's to make it back to where they once were. I looked forward to getting the issues and poured over them cover to cover.

That said, I do think I'm going to wait to renew until I start reading they are back being distributed and mailed somewhat on time.

I'm sure Steve is doing everything he can to keep things afloat, but silence can be a killer of businesses and I do feel something should be sent out so folks don't lose hope on the return of this great magazine.

  14. You forgot the big one they just don't really care about their customers. I know everyone will jump down my throat that they do and they are trying their best but at this point they have proven over and over that when it really comes down to it they just don't. In 5 years they still haven't dealt with the communication issue (which basically costs next to nothing to fix) and no sending out the same bullshit email that they are working to fix things ever other year is not dealing with it. Sit down for 2 weeks 8 hours a day and do nothing but go through emails and reply. I guarantee 70% of them are just the same people emailing over and over again so it can't be that many. If you can't be bothered to do that or find the time or someone to help you do that in a 5 years period your really don't care that much about your customers no matter what they or anyone else says.

You do have a point. My dad a great salesman, told me that one was only as good as the next customer to "come through your door". On the other hand, if they don't care, why are they making any effort at all to keep going? I don't being to understand it, just hoping for the next issue.

Creeping up on 3 months since we heard “it’s in the mail and the other is at the printer!” Bit longer than I expected.

Has anyone heard of anyone actually receiving theirs? I typically get mine a week or two after I see other people getting theres

  18. I didn't say they didn't care I said they didn't care about their customers. They care about thier magazine, I am sure they love the pat's on the back about what a great product they make. None of that takes away from the fact they take their customer for granted and any company that does that doesn't really care about them.

I think what was said was “….#87 is at the mailing house….”, or something to that effect. They would probably be tasked with putting them in the envelopes, addressing and sorting them by Zip codes for the USPS Bulk Rate. Could that firm be holding them hostage for nonpayment?

I'm another who paid a sub & didn't get an issue except the Electronic copy.
Have emailed a couple of times (where's my stuff) & silence.
I love the magazine, really hope they can pull it together but won't re sub untill I hear about new subs rolling out.
On another note, a local (Australia) 'dealer' of Hop Up is having trouble getting them to reply too....

  21. As the idiot that started this thread all I ever wanted and still want is some sort of reply to sincere and honest questions regarding the Rodders Journal by people like myself who have every issue, various extra books, catalogs & publications by TRJ and in all likelyhood will continue to support the publication..........surely it cannot be THAT hard to reply to an email.............my apologies if I've upset anyone by continually asking that we(and me) get a reply to an honest question but...........jeese, how hard can it be? ..........Andy Douglas

Just a quick confirmation that Steve Coonan is working his ass off to honor his promises. I ordered issue 7 about 4 years ago and been waiting ever since to receive it. I'm also a subscriber and didn't receive the last 3 issues all this time. But today they finally arrived (in Italy, mind you...) so I have no doubt that he cares about us..
