Anybody here snag a street roddy Track T and successfully save it? Would a late '50's build be feasible? Really nice paint but too Mazda. Chopped the late model wheels, billet rear views, fog light type headlights. Oy. It wouldn't be that hard to wheel/tire, de billet and retro style the SBC, tucked exhaust, smooth hood, headlights, steering column/wheel. Probably still not enough. The front steer tie rods might be the reason it was built 18 years ago and has no miles on it. I guess there's a reason it's at a very low price and hasn't sold.
    Damn.

Craigslist ad? I think you're on to something here. If you could get it for the right price it could be de-uglified.

Marketplace. I gotta quit lookin at those damn ads. It's just screaming at me. And a recent price reduction.

I'm willin' to scratch out whatever. I thought the wheels were/are the main no no. Are the rear tars an issue?

I’ll bet he’d drive it anyway. Lol

  9. 1) Add a full louvered hood.
    2) Swap wheels & tires for steelies & block pattern dirt trackers.
    3) Dietz headlights.
    4) Add front & rear nerf bars.

    Done.

What's the price? That is ALWAYS the determining factor whether it's worth messing with or not.

I know it's taboo here but the wheels don't really bother me. Like others said, add a hood and some headlights and have a blast.

EDIT: I would try and do something different about the steering.

As always, look under it. See if the late lipstick is just on top.
If it runs, steers stops and doesn't self destruct, it can always be refined to another taste.

Make sure you change it from the look the builder wanted to the look you're following , might think about whether or not it's drivable as is before you dump all your money in looks versus function . They're nice to look at but way more fun to drive ..

Seems a little high but I am a little out of the loop, ask the seller if he would keep the stuff you don't want for a reduced price, just pretend it's 4:00 Sunday and the swap meet is about to end, worth a try.

The right wheels and tires, full hood and correct headlights that would be a great just for fun build.
I could find a use for the wheels without problem.

Ram horn manifolds, or tri-y headers tucked inside the hood line. Old style steel wheels and appropriate tires. A deuce shell and grille. A Vertex magneto and 3 deuces. A full hood with louvers. One step at a time, just keep it driving…

Never have I ever, seen a bucket with a Blue windshield.

  23. I agree it doesn't suit everyone's taste, to me 17 is too much but then again if you have big plans of making it your I would think 8 might be a much better starting point. HRP.

I like the way the upholstery is tucked in under the lip of the body. Adds a bit more interior room, and in a T Roadster that's a good thing. Sort of like Pete Chapouris' green roadster.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of track noses.....sort of a Karl Malden nose on a petite little hot rod

Looks an awful lot like it started life as a Speedway kit.
