I looked, but I don't remember. I was too busy with other things when I was around it. It did drive nice though.

Way back there in the mid 70’s, I bought a LENCO made “ in and out or 2 spd”rear end piece that attached at the pumpkin for a nine in Ford(old Pate swap meet). It had a small round object on the front of the pinion shaft that when connected to a lever inside the drivers compartment changed from a 4:11 to a 2:88 in high gear. At the time I was a student at Texas A & M University with a bright red 32 five window with a Scot blower. One of my friends was Jay Bittle from Cali(JBAHeaders). I paid $100 and Jay offered me $400 and off it went. By the way Jay bought a Boss 429 and took me for a ride in it. So, my point is LENCO MADE more items other than those that attaches to the trans—-this particular unit attached to the front portion of the pumpkin(9 in Ford) and the only modification as I remember was the driveshaft was shortened 8-10 inches to accommodate the round “pill box shaped” unit. John from 75 years in Texas to new residence in Lewes,De.but still attached to hot rods and the HAMB. IMG_2653.jpeg IMG_2655.jpeg IMG_2603.jpeg IMG_2634.jpeg

I guess Lenco was into dirt track racing as much as the drag racing end, sweet!!

Seems like a waste of a nice Lenco 5 speed to me. The car is cool, and would be fine with a good 4 speed or 5 speed trans that wasn't the Lenco. Save the Lenco for a more suitable use.

The Ford dash with Mercury tail lights makes me think it is a Canadian Ford car . If it is a 46-48 Ford front clip would bolt on . But for the price that’s being asked for the car a very nice driving car could be bought

Can't say I've ever seen a fat fender with no front clip and a model A grille shell before. I'm kinda like Anthony... I'd drive it, but not on purpose.:)

I would like to row through the gears on a Lenco once. I've never had the pleasure.

The Lenco lacks the accumulators and restrictors used in automatic transmissions to modulate the application of the bands so, Pull the lever - band applied - gear changed. They are rather harsh for street driving often barking the tires at every shift. The low power of the flathead might have actually worked to make it pretty decent.
I had a customer, a dentist with a blown 426 Hemi/Lenco in a tube chassis ‘70 (?) Cuda. It was awesome and he actually drove it quite a lot. He had arrangements with the local police officers who covered our local cruise night route so they didn’t harass him about spinning the tires a little.
I wonder what happened to that car. Built initially by my buddy Larry Pettit and finished impeccably by another local guy, it was by far the nicest Barracuda I’ve ever seen.

I must have missed the part that when you are a car guy you throw stones at others cars because they don't fit in your box ! must be a small box. oh wait there are very few car guys on here , just a bunch of old men with cars.

Nobody chooses a Lenco for a street car because it's the best choice. They choose it because it's different and cool.

Let your inner child go wild once in a while :p.

  11. I was beginning to think I was the only one that thought that.

Put the original front sheet metal back on and that would be a huge improvement.

As for the transmission, an expensive toy for guys with deep pockets. HRP

Which means moving the front axle rearward and therefore redoing the cooling system, steering, and most of the front half of the car plus body and paint. That's a big spend after buying a $55K car.

I don't disagree that would look better in my eye as well, but someone will probably drive and enjoy it as it is. It's unique and weird. If we all built the same crap, life would be extremely boring.

According to Classic.com it sold at Mecum in January for $41,800. And Mecum shows it off market. I didn’t think Lencos would hold up to street driving regardless of the power you were putting through them.

At one time Lenco made a street version #ST1200.

And this car does have the offset towers like the ST1200 had. I have had both but not hooked up to a flathead!

    Still in production,
Yes Lenco is street friendly ,
Can be set up 1 clutch to 5 clutch ,
Torque converter can be added ,
Older units some parts are hard to find & discontinued,
    B&J also street friendly

some of my fellow truck drivers would put the shift knob and air lines for a fuller "road ranger" trans in their pickups. great anti-theft device!
