I am always perusing marketplace, hoping to find that gem in the wheels section. I see tons of 14x6 wheels in there dirt cheap. Nice wheels, too. Slots, torque thrust, supremes.

I figure the 70's craze is next, so maybe I should buy them all up and become the 14" wheelmaster of the universe.

Just make sure to talk to the tire companies so you can have something to put on them.

  3. Yep.
Seen lots of NOS 14s yesterday.
The lowriders love em. But they also have plenty of tires.
Looked at some killer 14x8 and 10 chrome slots.
Not much in tire selection for the average HAMB style build. For those.
Picked up a set of 15x6 six lugs yesterday

not many want this size on a gm truck. But the lowrider/taildragger kinda build I want, these are perfect.
There was a NOS set of 14x6 six lug right beside em.
I could have used those as well for the kinda junk I like

It was popular to run 14’s on the front and 15’s on the rear on street rods.

Tell ya what, I'll sit on the sidelines and let you invest on this speculation.
I have no idea when or IF they will ever appreciate in value. I have a hard enough time budgeting for needs.

70's? 14" wheels were popular as soon as they became commonly available on new cars in 1957. I like 14's, they're the antithesis to the giant dub wheels that are so popular today. But you really have to stick to the narrower ones for the best tire selection, and you can't run a lot of giant aftermarket disc brakes behind them either.

14" wheels are one of those things that likely will never become a big craze, but are something to set your car apart from the cookie cutters.

It can be a lonely life in trendsetter town.

  8. Don't do it, 14's do make a good base for ice-cream stools though

I googled it , out of curiosity. Looks like you can still get them cheap. Cheaper than 15’s.

I don't see 14's ever becoming a frenzy market. Nitch market as always. Certain Nova/Falcon crowds seek 'em. I passed on a nice full set of 14X6 Rallys some time back. Not really sorry.

I run 14s on some of my modern (80s and 90s) beater cars. Do not recommenced.

Price will never skyrocket because the kind of people with money to burn who drive the price up on stuff like this build nice stuff and nobody puts 14s on anything nice because tire options that aren't trash basically don't exist at any reasonable price point. You're limited to economy car pizza cutters and trailer pizza cutters. Both of which corner like shit BTW. Even the worst worn out 16s from the pile behind the tire shop will run circles around them in every way except perhaps hitting curbs at at speed. They fold on themselves when cornering and they sway like they're flat when loaded down. If I didn't have tons of good used tires to fit them around I'd be on 16s across the entire fleet.

And the tire options will never improve because the size of the market doesn't justify it.

    Swade;
good use for those things, looks nice. I like.
I've got 2 gennie 14" ET-IVs', can't ever see using. Unless I get crazy & narrow the wee-wee outta them. Could look good then & *maybe* be useful on a lightweight T-bucket w/small ittie-bittie brakes - maybe better than brakeless wires/5spokes/10 or 12 spokes, idk. Kinda a lot of work, for little gain, since there aren't any decent brakes for them. OEM & go-karts stuff doesn't count.

I carted a full set of AR TT's to two swap meets and couldn't get one tickle. 5x4 3/4, two 14x6 and 2 14x7's. Finally sold them on marketplace a few weeks ago for $150 to a guy putting them on his Corvair greenbrier van. Hard item to find a buyer for.

Confirmed. I have the standard steellies on my car with the widest tires I thought I could use and even when pumped up to 35 psi the sidewall twists on the corners. Can't wait till I fit the Willwood 4 pot discs on the front which will require 16" wheels. Very period and cool to look at but if you have twisting roads like we do here in Austria, a pain.

IMG_3101.jpeg 14s with caps look good in my opinion, car will look better when the paint matches the wheels. I know I’m a little backwards
