Perhaps a few stupid questions, but last year I switched from a 5.5 iron head to a Brierley 7:1 aluminum head. I didn't notice until just lately when I got the RPU out for the season that I am running 195 degrees and at moments 240. I haven't seen any boiling over or water loss but without a pressure system what temp should I be running? I am currently running a 180 degree thermostat, should it be there or should I remove it? Finally, I have installed an FSI distributor. It has a 28 degree advance built in. Talking to Jim Brierley, he said that with his head, I should only be running 20 degrees and for me to call Shawn at FSI. Speaking to Shawn, he agreed with Jim and said I could have ordered the unit with the 18-20 degree advance, but that is water under the bridge. He also said if I ship the unit back to him, he will update it. Shipping back from Canada is a pain in the ass and it is the season. Any short term work arounds?

Hey Outback, if you were refering to the McLaughlin, it is a 1924 McLaughlin Buick 4 cyl. 170 c.i.d.

I believe Todd stopped development of the block which was to be aluminum with either 3 or 5 main bearings. He was also working on a cragar style OHV, and that also seemed to stop.

the video was from 3 years ago.

I believe he may still be casting winfield style heads, possibly for Synder's

Do you have a buddy with a distributor machine? You might be able to add some type of mechanical stop to limit the total advance. You may also find you need to change the springs so you get the right advance at the right RPM.

That's fascinating, I've shared on an Aussie A model page, I wonder if the manifold has ever turned up?

Burtz block has only two holes in the drain boss, a center one threaded and another plain through hole.
