Just stuck at work for 48 hours straight lol, I'm sure the 4 days of will be enjoyable though. Made the call today, and started the process, I'll be retired August 1st. Weird feeling.

ok, I am going to teach you how to be retired
    1. Come and go as you please
    2. Do what you want whenever you want
    3. Everyday is Saturday
    4. Any task can be put off until tomorrow
I really thought retirement would take a lot of effort but i fell right into it
    Congratulations

Well I'm still in the shop, so I'll build hot rods for about 6 more years, then I'm hanging it all up!

Race car ready, including my red tint, a small clutch drop assured that both wheels are indeed pulling, and the wheel hop is fixed. Let's go drag race  20250702_203954.jpg 20250702_204003.jpg 20250702_204015.jpg 20250702_204024.jpg 20250702_204043.jpg 20250702_204055.jpg 20250702_204059.jpg 20250702_204132.jpg

  13. When Dad retired, he was busy helping Mom with housework. I loved it because I didn’t have to cut grass. I just bought him a brand new John Deere for a retirement present.

You've got it. No wheel hop in the parking lot. Good enough for a street car lol

I have not worked after Jan 7 2012 . I don’t have time to scratch my azz anymore . I’m helping friends with there projects , machining a part or welding .I enjoy this bonding , I ask for no pay . I know what it is to need help . A free breakfast or a lunch and I’m good . I did some painting for a long friend , but it scares me . I have had the deathly Cancer once and don’t want to promote it anyway I can help from it .

  18. Glad to see you got it all dialed in Brother!

That was a lot of crap to do.... some necessary some maybe not, but you wouldn't want to get there & have them give you any sh1t.

I finally got two days to work on Stubby, he is all back together, but would not start. Might be a tooth out. Normally I would just pull the dist, take a long screw driver & move the pump drive an inch & pop the dist back in but with the tunnel ram you can't get the it all the way out. It sucks not having a 2nd set of hands around the shop. Dad will come over in the AM to crank it while I hold the dist...Fingers crossed as I am almost out of time! 1st half of tomorrow is all the time I have left as I have stuff to do for Laura to be Ok while I am gone.

    God Bless
    Bill

Everyone is different. The only regret I have retiring is that I wasn't able to do it earlier. Sadly its going by way too fast.

Colored windows look really wild! Driving around with them might be weird.
What size slicks are you going to buy? Lol

Well the majority of the time I'm driving, the windows are rolled down lol... guess I should've put air conditioning in the car huh? Lmao! There won't be a slick involved until I have a rear end that can withstand some traction! Little nervous about that to be honest. But what's the worst that can happen?! Winch the car back on the trailer? I clicked the button today on my retirement, delivered my letter to the chiefs office, so July 31st at midnight I'm no longer a fire captain. 43 years in the fire service. Poof! Done lol. But when that check hits my bank account, there'll be a new rear end in the car

Man I’ve known a lot of guys that have retired for all sorts of reasons but never seen anyone retire so they could put a new rear diff in their ride LOL:rolleyes:

Congrats on getting the car sorted and the retirement. You can tell the married retirees from the single ones. Some have more things to do than they ever did when they were working and some have a seven day weekend. Those who are married and retired know exactly which is which and will point it out to you if they can find enough time to read this. As for the rear end, I highly recommend Quick Performance. They will build exactly what you want and if you give them the measurements, you can simply unbolt your current axle and bolt the new one in. It’s nice to have everything still work when you upgrade one component.

I still like what I do so I still work at 2-3 days a month, at 76. I don't so surgery anymore, though, but I really miss it.
