Seen a white trunk lid thru the bushes so went to peek seen it was a 55 and assumed it was a 4 door cut down some brush and it’s a 2 door and coming home with me this morning gotta go back looking for the fenders and hood etc they said it was taken off when a mechanic was installing a new motor unfortunately he got paid and never came back so it’s been hibernating for years
Cool save! 2 door hardtop and it looks like it was a factory V8 car on top of that. Keep us up to date with pictures. I'd like to see how solid the car is.
Boy you have a good eye, and I know you’re tickled that you stopped to look. So many of the hidden gems are left to the way side for a “later restoration “ and never done. I like the fact that they are still out there to be saved!!!
Excellent score! A vintage tin '55 two door around these parts is unheard of in 2025! Did you find it in Vallejo or in a nearby city?
For people hanging on to nice old cars, a prerequisite is that you have to leave the hood up and the windows down to insure maximum deterioration.
^^^ And pull the air cleaner and carb so rainwater will destroy the engine. Great save on the 55! Glad to hear they were willing to sell it.
Finding a usable hood and fenders when you go back will save you $1500 at least. Great Hardtop score!
Don't worry about those windows down, that blue tarp (the one with the big metal ferrules in it that slap against the sides when the wind blows), that aught to keep the rain and critters out. Seriously though, glad you were able to rescue it, hope you got a title with it. The "paid in advance" mechanic (or body man, or whatever) is a tale as old as time.
Outstanding! If I were ever going to own and drive a GM product that is exactly the one I'd want. It's even in the condition I'd want to start with. Good Eye.
If the hired mechanic thought he had to remove the front clip to put a motor in; it may be lucky he didn't go any further.
Quick question and I don't mean to put a damper on your find, but did you get any paperwork, title, or registration with the car. Before you start spending money you might want to look into getting it legal.
