Less than two weeks after his 25th birthday, Richard Petty finished three laps ahead of the entire field to capture the Pickens 200 at South Carolina’s Greenville-Pickens Speedway.
Looks like Mike Hawthorn (28) tangling with Tony Brooks in the Vanwall at the 1957 Monaco Grand Prix. Brooks recovered to finish in 2nd place but Hawthorn was done for the day. In those days the cars and tires were much narrower than today and the drivers could p*** each other and actually race. With today's much wider cars Monaco is mostly about how you qualify as p***ing doesn't happen very often.
