I have a sun fuel level gauge that I would like to use, but I am coming up against an issue trying to find a sending unit. I measurs empty at 500 ohms and full at 2,000 ohm at 12v. The gauge also sweeps backwards, it rest at full and is powered to empty. Any help would be appreciated.
Are you sure you’ve got those readings right? Fuel senders are usually in the couple of hundred ohms range.
You can get converters to run any gauge with any sender, I did think that your range would be outside of the parameters they work at but this one says 0-3000 ohms https://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/...AaKnSCNQEGVYPZfvZE2tjNVb4nHiay-qCL-sy-L6ZNkVE
I used a potentiometer, rolled it in until it read on the e mark, measured the resistance and the same for the full side.
Did you double check using resistors, one for each end of travel? And you're sure you have the correct connections on the gauge? because those are strange numbers for a fuel sender
I am 100% positive of the numbers. They are completely odd, I know. I cant find any information about these sun fuel gauges, they dont seem very common.
From the internet. A standard Sun fuel gauge sender typically has a resistance range of 240 ohms empty to 33 ohms full. This means that as the fuel level in the tank decreases, the resistance measured by the sender increases, and as the fuel level increases, the resistance decreases.
