  1. Here is a 48 I just picked up and YES the headlights are getting thrown away!
    Will be lowering soon.

  4. Nice grab. I've been watching that one up here for a bit. Is it as solid as the ad made it out to be?

Nice ride! Got any idea what the outside rearview mirrors came off of? I've got those wobbly things that attach to the door frame. Can't keep them where they need to be. upload_2025-7-26_14-37-4.png

  10. I'm on the fence about keeping my '47, but I think some mods will make me like it more. In the future would be lowering, blackwall bias, driveline mods and interior mods.

A quick search came up with Bob Drake, Dennis Carpenter and Summit as suppliers.

The side trim on the Fords and Mercurys of those years has beautiful grooves in it . The cowl mirrors look like an after thought from the factory. The base is plain .

  18. Save your money, those are terrible mirrors. My avatar had a set when I got it, couldn't wait to get rid of them. You as driver can't even see the passenger-side mirror from inside the car. If you want actual functional mirrors, bite the bullet and drill a couple of holes in your doors for these... JEGS 90336: Side View Mirrors with 4 in. Round Head and 5 1/2 in. Swan Neck - JEGS (Jegs isn't the only vendor, it pays to shop). You'll need two holes per mirror so they won't twist. Make sure you get the longer neck like these.

Replacing the mirror glass with convex also can work

  21. I second @Crazy Steve thoughts on the cowl trim mirrors especially the passenger side.
You mention a problem with the mirrors that clamp on the door edge; but I've used that style without any problems in the past. Right now I have a set of United Pacific clamp on 4" mirrors on my '35 which have been working well for years. I added a convex head to the passenger side when I learned they were available. I have a set on the side for my '47 if it ever gets that far. They did seem decent when I had them mocked up at one time.

I have put bolt on mirrors similar to the ones Steve mentioned on a '33 I had; easy install other than I had to drill access holes in the inner door panel; but no big deal.

  25. I have the swan neck mirrors on my 46 Convertible but trying to get the passenger side mirror angled far enough so I can get the right view from my position behind the wheel seems impossible and I don't want to break the mirror glass, any ideas ?
