Friends of mine have just started producing these, a full front seal conversion. A nice piece. A small job to modify the sump.
The castings are heat treated also
    Made in Australia

Choose your pan gaskets wisely if you value your sanity and oil pressure.

I'd fitted this expensive oil pan gasket to my new Burtz engine.
After a few hundred miles I took the pan off to investigate an alarming tapping noise that had developed and was getting louder.

Oil pan gasket set A-6781-C for the Ford Model A 1928 to 1931.

A complete set of all the gaskets needed when removing the oil pan. The cork is a special compound with 90% memory for positive sealing. Torque to 6 foot pounds starting in middle and criss-crossing to front and back ends.

I replaced the seal with one cut from a cork place mat (hope she'll never notice) just like the old days.
Tapping now stopped and stress levels restored.

Seems like that special memory compound can't remember that it's supposed to stay in one piece, keep oil in, not scare the engine builder and not attempt clog up the oil pump!

Thank you for posting this...I have the exact same problem and I have a very strong dislike of these gasket sets....
I knew better than to have my buddy that borrowed a pan gasket set just replace them...he was all proud that he upgraded them for me...I knew better but used them anyway....

Did you have the same torn seal causing a ticking noise?

I posted that same post on a Burtz model A engine FB page and it seems we're not the only ones to have had problems with them.

No ticking noise...just copious amount of oil that decides to leave and become dust suppression after the seal tore

  17. Finally fitted the baffles to the roadster sump. Hopefully these will stop me out cornering the oil…

Does anyone recognize this regulator? I know I've seen them before but CRAFT has kicked in. It came in a big box o' banger bits I got years ago... image.jpg

I believe it is an external oil pressure relief valve. I saw one (or something like it) affixed to a Cragar/Miller OHV conversion....is the bolt hole width/pattern the same as the opening in a B block for the fuel pump? Is there an outlet port on the backside?
I believe it mounts on the fuel pump opening and the inlet is piped from side cover, located on the oil galley. The excess oil is dumped out the backside into the engine....
    My guess...

@winduptoy -Unfortunately I don't have a B block to compare it to. It looks the same. Yes it does have a hole in the center of the flat mounting side. I'll post some more pics tomorrow.
