Featured Folks Of Interest Let's revisit user names

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Jul 26, 2025 at 9:46 AM.

  1. My user name for the Hamb came easy.

My story starts back in the early 70's, our rag tag car club went to the North Atlanta Street Rods show/rod run at Stone Mountain Park in Atlanta, Georgia and it was the first trip I made in my 1930 model A pickup.

You could smell the the fresh primer from 20 foot away,I had just put the finishing touches on the truck the day before we left home.

We were happy to make the show and during that hot muggy Saturday one member of our club, after consuming large amounts of libations decided to make a sign to let the masses know I had just gotten my truck on the road.

One of the club members took the bottom of a card board from a case of Budweiser and in his best CRAYOLA script scrawled out all the features he could dream up and denoted that the paint ( red primer) was applied by the best painter in Anderson, South Carolina ~ HOTRODPRIMER.

I am far from being the best painter, fact is I am somewhat of a hack but that being said I have owned a lotta cars that never got shiny paint, just a fresh coat of primer.

To this day I am still a member of the club and all the old members remember the story and NOBODY will admit to doing the deed.

    The name stuck, HOTRODPRIMER. HRP

When I joined, I used my yahoo email address as my user name, hotrod man 2000. dumb name but wtf. For the first 6 months or so it was my user name. In a post about the jalopy showdown, Denise
( hotrodladycruiser ) got lazy and referred to me as hrm2k. I liked it because it was easier to type and it still works after 18 years

As a rug rag, my parents called me PeteyJoe.
    Ie… PeteyJoe from Cocomo.
I just misspelled it during my initial sign on at the hamb.

How do you change your username? I’m not too creative and never had a nickname per se, so when I signed up my username ended up being literally what I happened to be working on that day. Would love to change it to something else.

As a kid, I always thought I wanted a 5 window Deuce coupe. Turns out I like Model A coupes better and they're all five windows.

  10. First and foremost my last names Mitchell, so MITCH. My car and pickup were 36's and for some strange reason objects from 1936 seem to gravitate to me. So MITCH 36 it is.

Here’s where Fordors comes from, the car was not seen here before, obviously a bit “street roddy “

I went fuel racing with a friend for ten years and after that the car has been stuck in the garage for far too long awaiting a makeover. Plenty of new parts and plans but life got in the way.

I owned a parts store and I always wanted to remodel it to look like an old time saloon, but when the time came the big box stores were coming in and customers wanted cheap and not paying attention to quality. Retired never doing it. My avatar is a storage unit in my backyard.

Mine is my last name. I am not trying to hide from anyone. I wish everyone here went by their real names. It makes it hard for me to learn their real names when I meet them in person....

I used to drive stock cars, my car number was 50x. (At one of my first races, someone else already had number 50, so they told me to grab some duct tape and add an x behind it.)

Kind of obvious. First name, last name initial, and where I live. Easy to remember for an idiot like me.

  21. As it was originally built or modified …
“ Trulyvintage “ was the name I chose in 2006
when I first started collecting early vintage
day trailers, I bought an open trailer to transport
them, then starting offering transport service
    in 2008 for others …

    IMG_6627.jpeg

Then I started transporting farm equipment,
hit & miss engines and vehicles.
I added a custom built enclosed trailer …

    IMG_6628.jpeg

Today I transport custom and collector cars
dating back to 1903 for folks …

    My name is Raaf.

Some part of me is Swedish and my grandma wanted me to have a Swedish name so she named me Raaf.

But Raaf is not a Swedish name. It's Dutch - it means "Raven."

    My grandmother drank A LOT.

One of my other hobbies is knife making, I used that handle on few sights. I came to HAMB, JJ looking for info on paint, panel forming, rust removal for an OT car I’ve been working on. After being directed here many times I started looking deeper WOW. Decided to join this most beautiful site. Sharpone doesn’t fit the hot rod/ custom scene but I can remember my username. Didn’t realize I could use my real name. So you knuckleheads are stuck with me and my goofy name lol
