Hell I’m terrible with names. I’d never remember a real one. Nicknames make it alittle easier for me to

Well, my day job is as a lubrication engineer, but after hours is pretty much dedicated to playing music. At the time I joined the HAMB I was pretty busy at it, playing probably 10+ blues gigs per month, plus a couple of blues jams. Covid lockdowns had a devastating effect on that and it's never fully recovered. I still do maybe 2 - 4 shows per month, sometimes more if I'm lucky. Blues jams are really difficult to keep going anymore. The Blues is America's music.

Here I was thinking it was a lyric from some old do wop song. Guess I’m not even in the crayon box…

In an incredible stroke of genius, I put together my nickname "Mac" because my last name is! McHenry and I have a deuce roadster. Thus I came up with Deucemac. My ultimate genius shines at least one a century!

  12. The wood is nearly indestructible, burns hotter than anything but coal, grows all over around here and a bit prickly at times. Makes great walking sticks and canes (making them is osage orange.jpg my other obsession) but the fruit is pretty much useless.

All the ones I wanted to use were already in use. I ended up picking salflats because of a drive and race trip I made there.

A name given to me by a girl I knew many years ago who, after not seeing her for around 15 years, ran into me as she was exiting a store that I was entering and eventually became my wife. That can be blamed on Dupont chrome polish, as that was what I was in search of when I entered the store.

I started lurking as they used to say, around 2004. Then in 2007 I realized I just needed a username and password to join. I really hadn't used a computer much prior to that time period because I have always been a hold out on technology. But I caved. I like to have simple usernames and passwords, so I wanted to use 35ply because I have a 35 Plymouth coupe. But someone had that name so I used 1935ply. Not to exciting, but that's my story.

There has been an old Oldsmobile in my life since the day I was born. My pop had his 50 Olds 98 convertible since 1957 and bought the 1931 Olds convertible right after I was born in 1959. Both cars are still here.

My name came from the haircut, "flat top".
When I was kid in the 1950's and mid 60's, my dad always gave myself and my brothers the flat top cut because that was all he knew how to do other than the butch cut.
At family gatherings, my Uncles would place their beer on my head due to my outstanding balance capability. Anyway, it got to where they were calling me "Flathead Davey". "Hey, Flathead Davey, come here" and never went away. Over the years as we got older, the Uncles would reminisce and it always came up.
It had nothing to do with the flathead motor until I came into working on cars with my Dad and Uncles.

You can thank my dear wife. Her family was into nicknames. Sandy soon learned that I like old cars and old music and gave me the name. She actually called me RB.
    RB this, RB that.
    Sure do miss her.

I needed a log in name for Yahoo email Since I have had the 48 since early 73 with a short hiatus from when I sold it and then traded back for it I chose Mr48Chev as my Email and that continued here or I'd be Chopt48.

Town I live in and my last name. I would have just used my whole name, but pretty sure someone had that before me. My name is sort of common…

At one time, 40+ years ago, I had about 3000 vintage license plates and decided to sell some to help finance my car addiction. I took out an ad (which was, I believe, the first to sell old license plates exclusively) in Hemming's Motor News. I ran that ad for a dozen years or so, until my stock got low and the competition increased. Sold the remaining stock in one lot, but kept the nickname.
