So i keep hearing that long beds, 4 doors cars and fiber gl*** cars are just as good as short bed, steel, and 2 door cars,,,, but here's here's the question... why do people selling gl*** cars.. dance around the who;le add say'n how it's the best... then at the end it says..REAL SHINNEY. gl*** body.... OR THEY take 100 pics all at angles that don't show a full side view to see the long bed and 4 doors... I have gl*** cars... and I say it when people say.... nice car, my first reply is it's fiber gl***... or If I post for sell... i type.. wescott body 32 ford... So it really seems that nothing has changed.... the people that buy the more doors think they scored, which they did compared to 2 door cars.....but ... what say you???
Some guys want a car that looks like an old Ford hot rod, they're fine with gl***. Other guys want an old Ford hot rod, they need original steel. Some guys want an old car like dad drove, they're fine with 4 doors. Other guys want the best looking cars that were available back then, they need a 2 door. Some guys need to haul stuff around, they prefer a long bed truck. Other guys want a truck that looks sporty, they need a short bed. They're all a lot of fun.
Why is the first thing you say when someone compliments your car is "it's fibergl***" ? Are you ashamed it fibergl*** ??? I don't quite understand that.
and yes I'm ashamed that it's a gl*** car... when I bought it the plan was to pull the body...it has a ***led 32 OG ford frame.. I got real lazy and just put it to the back burner...
So when I go to sell these cars it's ok to say they are rust free??? and not that they are fibergl***???? lol
Not sure what you're getting at. The pic I posted was meant to point out that ads not mentioning that the body is 'gl*** are probably fishing, or trying hook people unwittingly into at least looking at the car.
I don’t understand what you are getting at, most guys drive the nicest car that they can afford. I have owned all types of cars, but have never been able to afford a “real steel” ‘32. Still had loads of fun with what I had…
I just quit worrying about what other people think, therefore I don’t constantly seek validation from others.
I remember looking at a Cobra at a show. There was a big display board next to the car that went on and on, paragraph after paragraph about the what a rare version the SC (or whatever) was and how it was special this and won that. The last line of text said it was a replica.
I bought my ‘51 Plymouth because it was the nicest most rust free old Mopar I could find. It’s not the nicest paint ever, the interior is only decent and it’s a 4dr but it’s one of the nicest cars I’ve owned and it’s mine.
Who cares? I know a guy with a Four Door, another with a fibergl*** 34 Ford roadster and I have Long Bed 4X4 Ford High Boy..
To answer the OP - People take the carefully angled pictures and tell only the high points at first because they are trying to sell a less desirable car. Similar concept to rearranging that goes on in Lowes. The longer a potential customer lingers and looks, the greater the chances of a purchase. I'm guessing the seller hopes someone will like a car, then accept or get over the extra doors. Possibly someone who would have skipped over an ad stating 4 door will actually consider such a vehicle. The tactic flat out doesn't p*** the smell test for me. when I see it, I roll on by.
I have a folder with about 200 32 Ford roadsters I have taken pictures of over the years. unless you see the fake 32 firewall some of the cheaper bodies have there is no way to tell the difference. I'd bet 1/2 are gl***.. probably more. doesn't really matter to me
