Anybody know of a source for these chrome buttons or something similar that won't break the bank? I've found some, but at $8-10 each it would get really expensive quickly.... I'm thinking maybe $3 each or less... much less would be good.
I get it. The cost of making Kool parts has gone into Orbit. For me S.S. would be the only route if I'm building a driver. Today's cheap chrome processes would not be my choice. When Chrome wears thin it flakes and blisters off. Slide in across the same buttons repeatedly and sooner of latter you'll have a Chrome flake trying to make a new home in the back of your Thy. Or maybe your Wife's. That would even be worse!

Winner! Took looking through many pages, but I think I found something that will work and at only $.75 each. I'll get more particulars before I order however...
The problems with that is the cover won't stay on without the thickness of the material, plus most are either zinc or cad plated with no polish. I found some chrome ones that are one piece, should do the trick...
As far as which finish, I think it would depend on the overal theme of the rest of the interior, like chrome handles, dash knobs, etc or brushed trim.
I'm planning on a 'full custom' interior circa early '60s, so white pearl vinyl and chrome will be dominant.
