I went up to the Vintiques of Yakima 2025 Northwest Nationals saturday and met up with my son in law and did a walk through before we both decide we had given out but he had a bettter excuse since he worked Swing Friday night and went in at 5 am on Saturday and worked a shift on Saturday.
I didn't take a lot of photos but here are some that hopefully are Hamb friendly. I think I took some of the little bably Blue shoebox convert a couple of years ago at a local rod trot and it is a pretty sweet ride.
The green F1 was a new one to me as were the Maroon Ford rag top and the blue Model A roadster.
My son in law and I decided that my grandson /his nephew who is a 3 year old wild child would be too rough on that nice paint job on that pedal tractor.

A few more before my knees gave out.
Lee Olson had his carson top sectioned Chevy out in fine form, the car runs a full dress 292 six that runs quite well.
Out in the back 40 they had lawn mower drags running as a bit of entertainment and most of them were running 4 cylinder bike motors and were super quick in the short stretch they had to run on. A few unedited shots from the Thursday night cruise night at Famous Daves Barbecue. We got there late and a lot had left but my wife paid for the barbecue dinner.
Some more shots of the blue Model A roadster that I posted earler. The Chevy ragtop is a nice local car that shows up at a number of events. IMG_0522.JPG IMG_0521.JPG IMG_0520.JPG IMG_0517.JPG IMG_0516.JPG IMG_0514.JPG IMG_0508.JPG IMG_0505.JPG

Thanks, Mr48. I spent quite a bit of time in that valley over the years, plant work in Sunnyside and wine trips there to Pasco. More than once the crew found me missing. They went to the first winery, and I followed the hot rods to the show. There’s some nice cars and nice people over there. My Dad was from Cle Elum, and Grandfather had a hardware store in Yakima for a while.

Now that 18 and I-90 is open, I need to get my *** back over there.

    Thanks again.

One orange Chebby II g***er a nice cabriolet and a little A pickup that I think was at the first Vintiques nationals that I went to in 1978 pretty much as it sits there with newer tires and no other changes. Couldn't show a side of the 54 Chevy that was a real nice little mild custom having an iden***y crisus. Damned nice car except for that though.

That's all I got as I only took 82 photos before I ****ped out and before my son in law had to lug me to the car.

It's still a good run but there are getting to be too many late models in it for me and with that way too many boring 60's and early 70's cars that have nothing going for them except the owners love them.
One of my first auto mechanics students from when I started teaching in 1978 had a super bee in the show that he had done a ground up Rotirsseri redo on that is black and perfect. Total restore that should have won an award in my book .
With Bonneville and Hot August nights starting the same weekend there were a lot of rods you normally see there that had went to Bonneville with a stop at Reno on the way back.

  9. Ok, help me out. I for the life of me can't figure out what the blue car is in the background. At first I thought it was a 41-48 Chevy with a reflection on the fender, but then I look closer and thought someone had put a bulge in the fender, but then I realized it's not a Chevy, and I'm pretty sure the fender is stock that way. So what kind of car is it? Thanks for the pictures, they were great.

These are some I took a couple of months ago at a different show. The car was started in the late 80's and finished and driven a lot then redone as more of a restoration around 2013 and then redone again in the last couple of years with a lot of things corrected but it still looks pretty close to what it did outside of the chrome wheels and spyder caps being replaced with hubcaps. Some great looking cars. Really digging the blue Model A with what I think looks like a nail head mill.

The F1 belongs to Brian Osbon. He has owned it since he was 16 and he drove it from the Bend/Redmond, Oregon area.

This is one of his other toys.

Yes, I also think its a '41 Studebaker, and the other owner (now P***ed) swears it is stock..
But for the life of me, I have never seen another with those bulges.
I am not that knowledgeable about '41 Studes except I like their tailights
It looks factory, and is interesting, but Not attractive to my eyes.
I would like someone to clarify to me about the rear fenders on this car
I ask a friend, (now p***ed on ) about the bulge, as I described it, he said he had loved Studebakers forever and he had never EVER seen what I described.
Please contact me with pictures of brochures, maybe it was only on certain Models ?
I wonder if the car could be a Nash, with Stude tailights and rear bumper. Just compare ALL the differences, rear window, wide front fenders, gas filler, chrome around windows, rear deck lid chrome. filler between bumper, bumper is so different, and trunk lid , shape and width of top. I bet original modifier Just had a ball, with all the opinions !!!!
Wish he would step forward and tell us the true story. [IMG]

I looked at photos of probably 100 41 Studebaker coupes last night and none had the fender buldges. On the other hand I never looked at photos of sedans.

I don't seem to have any more photos of it after seaching my older albums of the Vintiques shows.

I did find two shots of a 41 coupe that Alamy (full creds to) has on their site with the fender bulge Then I found photos of 41 Studebaker president coupes (and sedans) with fender skirts making me believe that the blue coupe at Yakima is a 41 President coupe as the chrome window trim also jives. A fender skirt car with wide wheels rather than fender skirts who would have thunk it. 41 Stude sedan green.png Screenshot (239).png IMG_0585 - Copy.JPG Screenshot (244).png Screenshot (246).png

AND THERE WE HAVE IT, BY GOLLY, I AM SO GLAD TO SOLVE FOR MY LITTLE BRAIN.
Could the blue one be 1941 President coupe?
I GUESS I OWE THE GUY IN LONGVIEW AN APOLOGY,

I'd bet even money that a President cost a chunk of money more than a Champion in 1941 and we are used to seeing Champions.
