I’ve been there 3 times and it is simply magnificent. It’s one of those rare places where you can spend days and not see it all.
The white Eldorado in your third picture is almost overwhelming! Don't think I've ever seen one in real life with the hard convertible top boot before. The Kennedy Lincoln Limo has more class than the current presidential "Beast" will ever have. The Chrysler Turbine car will always look fresh and new. An ageless design. The Kaiser Traveler is an interesting vehicle: surprised it wasn't displayed with the rear hatchback opened. Great photos, well taken! Thanks for sharing here.
I have never been there, never been to Michigan for that matter. These pictures remind me I need to make travel plans.
When I was a kid we lived maybe 4 miles from The Henry Ford ( used to be called Henry Ford Museum) and Greenfield Village which contains historic houses/businesses like the Wright Brothers work shop. When it was hot (at least by Michigan standards several of us kids would escape the heat by going to the museum riding our bikes there. As previously mentioned they have everything there including cars, airplanes, steam locomotives, farm equipment, the chair Lincoln was setting in when assassinated plus all things Americana. You could spent days there and not see everything. Of course as a kid I just wanted to see all the cars from standard models off the assembly line to prototypes, etc. Since moving South I haven’t been there in decades but always think about going during family visits. I think this video is well worth watching.
Thanks Pirate for this EXCELLENT Video !! I'm lucky enough to have visited the Henry Ford Museum twice.. the 1st visit was 1972 !,.. the last in 2013. Thanks again for sharing your excellent video skills !!
I’ve been fortunate enough to have been there twice while attending Early Ford V-8 Club Grand National Meets. Wonderful experience. If you’re ever in Detroit be sure to include it in your plans. It’s not a car museum, it’s America’s museum. That flathead engine is *18-1*, the first one.
Great pics! one of my favorite museums. I went there along with Greenfield Village, River Rouge Plant, and the Piquette in 2018.
The Henry Ford Museum could possibly be toured in one day…..assuming you didn’t stop and look for long at anything. I suppose it would be a good experience to drag the young kids along, but even if they liked some parts, their impatience and antsy nature would affect the overall experience for you. To enjoy the museum for all it offers, I’d recommend doing it with a buddy or your spouse (ie no kids). Greenfield Village adjoins the car museum and is another great experience…..sort of having a time travel experience. All the buildings are either in original condition or restored to their vintage status. I think the train ride would be a nice break from the walking. Greenfield (to me) deserves two days to see everything.
