Great show again this week! Thank you to our artists!

Aliens frequently hide in @rusty1 ’s artwork. This week it looks to me like seven, plus a dog!

I had something like that but red you could cut the wheels with a little thumbscrew on the side it looked like a side exhaust and wind it up to go in circles. Screenshot_20250810-230048.jpg

Release all 20 stallions; fingers to the metal; on a proper flat surface; no wind or maybe a tiny bit of tailwind and achieve a mind-boggling speed of 47 mph! Speedster! No. 7...

671 SBC Mid Engine 53 Studebaker Coupe

    Hello,

When I was little, I tried reading a long story in one of those old Hot Rod Magazines. Long stories or tech articles and me do not go together. If it takes longer than 15 minutes to read a hot rod story, I leave it alone.
    upload_2025-8-15_3-56-22.png
It took me almost a week to finish the article on the Studebaker. At the time, I liked the motor as it came from the factory with a centrifugal supercharger. Even so, it was not as fast as a Chevy Bel Air with a 283 motor and dual quads. But, it was something different. I liked the racy look of the Hawk and it has stayed with me all these years.

I remember trying to get my brother to build one for the drags and street. It was a sneaky way for me to get a car as I was approaching legal driving status. So, if we built one, raced it at Lion’s Dragstrip, by the time I was 16, it could be mine, since my brother was still driving and racing his 58 Impala. I thought that was a great idea.

It has been a long time since I have read that article and since then I have liked a Studebaker Hawk for a cool streamlined car for all purposes. They are very popular over the years to customize and modify at the other end for high speed racing at El Mirage or Bonneville.

So, this year, I took my old Studebaker Hawk rough draft and made a lowered modified Studebaker Race Car for Bonneville.

Not only is it a Studebaker Race Car that is a salt hugging design, but it has a mid-engine build inside. My other favorite drag race car is the Speed Sport Roadster and the mid engine design has always intrigued me.

Note: Mid-engine 671 supercharged SBC motor should be enough to go fast, yet fit inside of the cab.

"A brother from another mother…” as the saying goes… perhaps, two brothers... Yikes !!

From a different time and place was a modified Studebaker Hawk Nomad Race Car and matching push station wagon, under the ever present blue tent… YRMV

First of all, just let me say, that its really great to see that @57 Corvette ~ Bob is back among us as a weekly contributor to the (FAS) !

Now just because I have a background in Aviation, I have to really get a good laugh, at the attempts of AI to try to get things right.

Gotta love the out of balance 4 blade prop, and the way there is two landing gear but no tail wheel, when in reality, that should have been a tricycle gear, potential T-28 Trojan aircraft.

    DSC_2780.JPG

The poor little mis- shaped yellow aircraft, to the right in the background is potentially a J-3 Cub, but not today.

    IMG_0149.JPG
These two accompanying photos that I shot at Oshkosh, are just for reference for those here on the (FAS) that may not know what the real aircraft actually look like !

I am NOT giving you shit Bob, just more praise for the great work you do!
Feel free to use these two photos for future reference and other compositions!
    "Cheshire grin"

    Thanks from Dennis.

Love that piece Joe @Jokem59 I need to unearth my Pontiac sign and get it hung up in the new digs.

Early photoshopping in version 2 back around 2006 I’d guess…
Since @themoose posted a rare drawing rather than a compiled image, a refreshing and nicely rendered change up, I might add, and the subject of the piece being a 3100………….

    ”Shop” truck… Not!

I chopped, lowered and changed the color of this version, based on a HAMB member’s photo,
Crediting him at the time. I then used that image to go further on the second rendering.

    53profile[1].jpg

On this truck, I experimented with color, effects filters brushes and blending tools. Lots of tweaks and ‘hand drawn changes were added to the mix.
