@Ryan started a thread today about a Frank Kurtis creation and one post included a series of photos from the Petersen Museum archives, one of which caught my eye for two reasons. This photo was captioned wrong, Sam Parriot never ran a hemi in his Kurtis AM/SP cars, the earlier one was a Kurtis 500-S and ran a blown Caddy, not this Chrysler and his later Kurtis Aguila had a blown and injected 427 Ford wedge.
Anyway, this photo shows wet exhaust as used in boats. Keith Black raced boats for a long time before he got involved with Tom Greer and Don Prudhomme running a fuel car so here’s my question.

Do any of you old timers think that is a young Keith on the left? I was hoping to hear from @296ardun but his last activity was Feb. 8, 2025 and I’m afraid he may have slipped away.

upload_2025-8-19_8-36-21.png Bob Waterfield #7 not Norm Van Brocklin at #11

    Hello,
Not only is that car mislabeled as @lurker mick stated, the QB in the photo is #7, Bob Waterfield. He was on the same team, L.A. Rams in the 50s and was an outstanding player. He had a good rivalry going and #7 usually had the best results. Plus, he married famous Jane Russell. Wow! It was the stuff that kept us reading the daily L.A. Examiner every day to see the next thing for the So Cal sports teams.

We were So Cal sports enthusiasts, like all little kids growing up. There were folks that were popular and in the photo, they drew lots of attention...

Norm Van Brocklin was also a great player and had his time as a star football player. Action playing cards exchanged hands and #11 was always handy to have doubles. Anytime someone wanted to trade, it was usually one for three or more as #11 was popular.

So, yes, a couple of misleading typed things needed clearing up for this post. YRMV

  18. This is Kent Hazelwood originally from Trenton, Michigan. He passed away years ago. He was a HAMB member and wrote on his profile page "My first car was a 1930 Model A tudor Sedan which I rebuilt and added a 301 chev, 39 trans and cutom interior. My second show was the 1965 Autorama at Cobo Hall."
