Patronix is 50 / 50 . Many threads about here on HAMB .
I have had Very good luck with
    Mallory since introduced late 80s
Early 90s , as long as wired correct
    Use Ballast &
"" Do Not Weld on Vehicle "
    Unless you
Disconnecting battery or unplugged wire harness to distributor.
Usually can pick one used up for
    $50 -70,
Its a gamble on eye / module tho.

If you can install a pertonix in there you can install points especially unipoints just as easy or easier .

If you can't get the cap off then redesign the car so you can .

Did you look at the intake port to head port alignment and size, then the intake gasket 'cover' and alignment? there are a bizillion intake gaskets and they necessarily don't all align and cover what they should. My 327 with angle plug heads and aftermarket Offy 3x2 intake was leaking on the valley side of the set up because of a mis-match gasket....
just a thought and kind of wonder what manifold vacuum looks like at idle?

Today’s update all back together today , with new duel plane manifold with new gaskets, distributor base plate repaired with petronix kit and flamethrower coil ,new carburetor with electric choke ,new leads , plugs , time set to 13 BTDC . Starts perfect ticks over and revs out great when sat in my workshop ,BUT again has such a flat spot with out feathering the throttle will almost cut out . I have blocked of the vacuum advance still the same .swopped vacuum port across to the other port still the same . Just about to set fire to it

Yes , can be frustrating at times,
If Avatar too nice to throw a match on.

Flat spot / bog ... Get a can of Brake clean / carb cleaner when you wack throttle & @ died Flat spot ,Spray into carb & see if it camouflage Dead spot.
& takes it , Rev's up No bog.
If so you know Accelerator pump needs adjusting Not enough fuel shot or squirter size to small ,
If Not take some away , accelerator pump squirter size,
Could Be still need more Initial timing.
Could be where you have carb set , butterfly's pass transfer slot
( Flat spot /Bog) at the bottom of the bore of the base plate.
    On Front Bore's .

Just saying Air , Fuel , Spark & Timing .

I was up there last week. Darn

I still think your timing is out. With it running move the distributor to get the fastest idle, retard it a couple of degrees and see what it drives like. Ignore what the timing marks say.

as a second to your advice--advance it til it kicks back a bit on starting and just back off from there enough-seems the quickest dirtiest way...

Update turned dizzy to fast idle then backed it off few degrees, so took it out for a drive no flat spots or coughing and check timing on my return set to 38 degrees BTDC ,but would not restart knocked timing back to 22 degrees need to take it out again tomorrow.

Totally agree at 180 out there is no compression when you have spark
