Whenever my dad and I were looking for my first car we looked at one like this. Unfortunately it was a northern car so it had a shit load of body rot but had a hemi if I remember correctly. Could have got it for $300 in ‘79 or ‘80. I was 13 so we were thinking ahead and looking for a father son project.

 

IMO, it would look better if all white

note, no engine or transmission; time for a transplant.
And possibly a different rear end

Looks like a Ford chassis. Note the Hurst style motor mount used to install the Hemi.

 

Is that a Mopar push button shift thing to the left of the speedo?

 

Ford F1 chassis I believe.

 

Might be a PTO switch?

 

If the photo of the wire covers are actually for the engine it's a DeSoto car hemi. If not, both Dodge & Chrysler truck hemis were made. Some trucks got them as late as '60, 2 years after cars ended.
