I like the fact that they channeled the hell out of it and used the fenders, really cool. Kinda reminds me of Gary Chopit's 32 pickup

Mark, that's a cool truck but a guy 6'4" wouldn't fit. HRP

My two contributions; Ganahl’s version of the Nitti roadster and our own Tony’s 5w coupe. One’s Clean and one’s Mean.

I still think Larry's is the best representation of a '32. As an aside, I can admire the work and craftsmanship that went into the versions like the Coffin, etc. They just don't scream '32 to me at first glance, never did. It's all just 'pinions anyways!

  9. For me this is the best 32. Owned by a relative/ mentor/friend, I 6FBF3A34-8347-4584-8D83-836756A8CEC8.jpeg watched/helped build it. Attended many an event with it, got to ride in it, still marvel at the good looks. I have ridden on the coattails of this 32 for a long time, met plenty of new friends because of it and it has enrich my life and broaden my mind. And today it prompted me to wax poetic.

Here’s my take on the subject.

99.9% of all ‘32 Fords are “the best of all time” someone would have to really mess one up for it not to be considered in this group.
I have my preference mainly because I grew up around them, my father was a small time collector, he had an assortment of deuces. I remember a carcass of a fordoor sitting in the back of the property, a sedan parked at a friend’s place and two ( yes two) Victoria’s on the property. Over the years most of them were sold off, one of the Victoria’s found a new home a few blocks from us, it spend almost a decade parked in that guys yard surrounded by uncut grass. The second Victoria was gifted to me on my 16th birthday. My plan was to modify it but that took something I lacked, money. I drove it to high school, then parked it until I could afford to build it. In 1968 I purchased my avatar and my interests changed, my parents decided to relocate to a warm Southern state so my father started selling cars again. I decided to return the Victoria to him, and he sold it immediately.
I was OK with that ( at the time) because I had the Cyclone, and still do.
The Victoria now lives a couple of hours from here in very good hands, it has been completely gone through and is stunning in every way. A couple of years before my father passed I took him to see the car, the owner took him for a ride and I could tell he was enjoying every minute of it.
The first Victoria was eventually modified to look like it was fiberglass, chopped, smoothed, painted a trendy color. Not sure if it still exists.
So ‘32 Victoria’s are preferred but every other body style comes in a close second.

    Hello,

The ‘best’ is totally “opinion” and for most of us, a hard decision to make. So, best could be “best roadster” “best sedan,” etc. All of the photos presented are wonderful builds and would make a garage looking quite nice for a cool photo shoot. So, one could see why those were chosen, mostly, it is one a person has built. Why not?

upload_2025-8-23_9-45-15.png This photo has been with me for a long time. It was given to me by my old friend, Jack Stewart. It was a popular photo for those old hot rod days and continues to be at the top of my digital files.

To me, this red 1932 full fendered roadster from Jack Stewart, is “the best.” My ride in it solidified the experience/feel of what a nice roadster build would be like going down the street and not locked up in a garage. The red 32 roadster was on the streets of So Cal almost weekly and was a super build, but also a daily driver. Everything about it said hot rod. Show quality, but yet, a driver.

When I first saw the red roadster, “that was what hot rods should look like” was going through my mind. But, it did look like a show car, not a daily driver. My ride around the area on a visit to the owner’s house was more than what I thought it would be. A true hot rod with the wind blowing in our faces, hair plastered all over the place and the rumble of the motor, as we cruised down the highway. Many miles later, I was satisfied of my choice at the time of the “best” choice if anything was ready for a magazine photo shoot. There were plenty of "miles of smiles..."

But, then months later, I was fortunate to be the one to photograph the nicely built 32 Phaeton of Jim Lattin. Home court advantage helped the whole color photo shoot. A high plateau within a hillside community that had the most wonderful view of the valley and local mountains was outstanding. It felt as if I could throw a baseball and hit the snow covered mountains.
    upload_2025-8-23_3-52-6.png
The whole point of the location background was necessary if one wanted a color magazine spread along with the storyline of the build. Did it get accepted by the finicky editors? Yes…
    upload_2025-8-23_3-52-45.png
He was a happy builder and owner of this immaculate 1932 Phaeton. At the time of the photo shoot, there were not too many 1932 Phaeton hot rods around. So, that was the added bonus for the editors to pick this one out of my photo arrays. YRMV

    upload_2025-8-23_3-53-48.png details…

Did it qualify? For a color page and storyline?
upload_2025-8-23_9-47-57.png At the time, this was the best 1932 Phaeton build around…

    Note:

I even used the digital format for my old laptop computer screen saver, as it popped up all of the time… yes!
    upload_2025-8-23_3-55-52.png
A true depiction of a cool hot rod on an actual laptop screen as a screen saver. Not a plain photo saying it was a screen saver photo, without any proof of actually being on the laptop/home computer screen.

An actual insertion of the wonderful 32 Ford Phaeton color transparency, as the home screen saver. The saved jpeg photo easily loaded as a digital file and became an actual screen saver. As I turn on my computer or old laptop, up pops this photo and it instantly reminded me of cold fingers and color photographs on that high view oriented, plateau area. It was a story line well written and the color photos were outstanding… as the editors told me when I submitted them. YRMV

So, "Best 1932 Roadster" and "Best 1932 Phaeton..."

Well , I don't want to blow my own horn, but I will. I'd put my recently completed coupe up against anything I've seen here! Selling because of health reasons. And HRP can fit in it!:p

What is in it for running gear? Spokes and louvers, bold choice but I like the look from the back.
