1.5 is right in the middle of the travel but 1.5 up or down isn't much wheel travel.

 

Thats minimal travel even for the ford buggy springs. With the***** roads we encounter you have to think of the occasional big bounces you will take. Might want to at least go with an 8" comp and 12" extended. Then set it with 2.5" for compression and 1.5" rebound. Even if you jam it down a couple of inches it won't rebound as much. Unless you get airborne.

 

Be aware that a bounce of 4” at the wheel is probably only about 2/3 that at the shock.

 

The more you angle the shock the less it moves.

 

And the more you angle them, the less absorbing they do.

GENERALLY , the expected shock travel on a t-bucket with a buggy sprung/ straight axle is about 3/4 to 1" up or down , unless you are going off roading ...
