BEEN ON THE HUNT FOR A 5 WINDOW HI -BOY FOR AWHILE....SEEMS THE 32 GUYS ARE REALLY hard to get ahold of now days...have their car for sale, then won't respond back...prices seem crazy high... so i guess anything under 100k is a good deal....???????? anyway... this coupe is a real steel car with glass fenders.... figured... pull the fenders and Bahm.. it's a hi boy... didn't get much history on the car... bought from a flipper in utah... 524063475_10213633781794736_687526918886614566_n.jpg 524390658_10213633783194771_1231280055425167798_n.jpg 524615128_10213633811555480_756656416243842747_n.jpg 524934095_10213633777954640_5797543328823003471_n.jpg

gonna be a tough start.... I've changed my mind 10 times about pulling the fenders...I'll have to paint the frame... no big deal...but... I think this car has some history...hi desert hotrods??? or something like that.... I just sit in a chair and dream about what to do with it....I like the look with the fenders and it sits right... so maybe just keep detailing it untill I get on a path???

Dang dude, I wish I had that kind of money…
What’s your story, (if you don’t mind me asking), you have such an incredible car collection.
How do you decide which one to drive?

it's a pretty sad story... grab a beer...I own a shop in vegas...my boys got old enough to run it, and truth is .. we get along better with me staying away and they get along better...so went to havasu and started building custom spec houses, after the second one , I was able to build out of pocket..and carry the paper... (loans).. fast forward, my wife was getting ready to retire...sitting around the house all day I would get bored... sooo, I'd head to the bar...didn't smoke drink or gamble...So one day i say... give me a beer... haven't had a beer in over 30 years....so that night I had to call my wife to come get me....next day... need the hair of the dog...go to the bar at 6am.. by 8 i was back on the beer,,,sitting with the video poker right in front... i thought... i'm gonna try my luck...5 min later.... royal.... 1000 bucks...tipped the bar tender 100... by 8 pm,... still there.. and I'm down a grand out of pocket... I have lived in vegas since 57 and never gambled...next day i was back getting the free stake and eggs breakfast @ 4am... fast forward 2 yrs... now i'm fuc'd... hook is burried...no mater how I tried.. couldn't stop.. every day the same..wake up hung over and go to sleep drunk.... oh and started smoking....

so it was really getting bad...playing full loaded 5$ machines... you can go through 10k in an hour,,,, an some times quicker...so now... downer you you would not believe.....no mater what I tried... back in the bar....so one day... I asked my wife.... does my drinking and gambling bother you.... she said no.... it scares me...Sooooo,... I went to GA.... gamblers anomus (sp).. had to learn to controll the triggers....and went to my consoler 3 times a week and ever day 5 days aweek to GA... they said.... pick up and old hobie, something to keep you busy... so I got back in to old cars...right before I signed up here....

so fast forward...quit drinking..... quit gambling... lost 7 figures.. started buying cars...sometimes I go all week with out leaving the back yard....I feel I'm done with gambling... but no way to find out cause if it's with in my power...never again...so there it is...

So.. now I'm try'n to get in the bee hive....the bees here don't like other bees...

Did who ever take & rap the dash , window garnishes in fabric ?
    Driver side mirror ?
Dash looks a lot better Now ,Red kind of Stands Out in you face . But if me
I think I would cut a piece of aluminum
Insert all across & Engine turn , lay gauges out different, & to my taste different gauges , Look 80 s 90 VDO ,

    I use the stock 32 opening , Big 50's
Harly -D speedo 2 2-1/16 or 2-5/8's gauges , then on bottom of dash made a shelf same contour the shape of the bottom of the dash to hold another 4-7 gages , they are recessed about 4 inch's toward fire wall , So when you are out side look @ dash do not see, unless looking threw 1/4 & rear glass.
But when seating in seat you can see them , same with all switches , I just like a Naked , stock looking dash .
I think best way to get into a Good H-R
Is to find a Ugly Street rod era 40k &
    De S -R it ,
    I use stock seat in my A's & 32's,
I have modified the tilt though.
    I am long legged & big A$$ feet .
Maybe I try a Glide bench with maybe
Arm rest in center find one kind Local.
Me , Not picking @ your car , I prefer
stock ish looking steering column ,I make pretty much all of mine.
I also made a custom pedestal for my Shifter, I use the Precision Shifter that like 1 inch wide , set up backwards No reaching for , like a race car all natural feel / in place .

You mentioned you think the car has some history by moving the interior, have you stumbled across Braising stick welding , many stampings of S- Security number ? at least here where I'm from most the old hot rodder's stamp
their S - Security number all throughout the car.
    50's - early 70s ,
I tattoo , making & #'s myself in unusual places.

The story you told above , Now makes sense of all vehicles your buying posting working On in last year or So .
Can be as bad as Gambling but I guess at least you have something to show for it instead of drink and Pi$$ out.

that’s an awful lot of honesty, - appreciate hearing your story - and glad that you found the right hobby now !
(you have some cool cars there).

regarding the coupe, - hard to take the street rod out of it with those valve covers and the ‘flames’ on the hood etc

thanks for the input.... and I never not listen to what people say, and never get offended....it is what it is....I think I've got a lot done for a few days... and as they say real hot rods are never done...this for sure is not a paint by numbers 32 so it will be stand alone when done.... there's so much to do to it, lot of stuff I also see but just need to get to it... I wanna drive it so changes are pretty much one at a time... the chassis is real old school mustang steering and drag link... I hate the 4 bar.... but again thats way down the road cause it handles really well....

    thanks again... All done
