I know a lot of you have done this and I have always wanted to and recently I acquired a complete 32 axle, perch pins, and spindles to go under my ‘29 roadster. My stock A kingpins were perfect in the 32 spindles, no movement, no nothing. Can I run the stock Model A brake actuators or do I need the 32-34 style? IMG_1755.jpeg IMG_1756.jpeg IMG_1757.jpeg

Get yourself a set of 32/34 front brakes to run with the 32 axle & spindles.
They are a bigger & better brake than the model A's and it's a bolt on!

Use the A actuators if your keeping the mechanical brakes. You will also need a spacer for the wishbone as the 32 axle is 1/4 inch thinner. If you go with 32 brakes you still use the A actuators.

Thanks. I did put a 1/4 spacer on the bottom. The reason I am asking is the area on the 32 perch pins where the actuator bolts on is almost twice as thick as the A perch pins.

The brake actuator of the Model A allows the brake rods to run parallel to the frame and thus fit better, the 32-34 run under the frame to the middle.
    I just built the same.

  6. You will find that the '32 axle is thinner than the A. You will need a spacer to fit the wishbone.

If you do 32 front brakes make sure you have the actuator rod that goes through the kingpin for a 32 as well, the Model A is too short.

While you are in there, add the floaters to the front wedges, this makes a Nice difference!

This is the one area that I am a little confused by. The boss on the 32 perch pin where the actuator bolts is nearly twice as thick as the A perch pin. The actuator when mounted is on a slight angle. Do you guys shave the boss down to match the A? IMG_1786.jpeg IMG_1787.jpeg
