  1. Lane, if you can’t make it to LF-3, I understand, but, it would be great to meet you if you can come. You would surely get the long distance award!!

My second car was the first '64 Barracuda sold in Kansas City, white with a gold interior 273 two-barrel. I bought it from the original owner, a retired truck mechanic who lived cattycorner from our backyard. He had helped me do repairs and maintenance on my first car, a '29 Model A standard coupe. One day he traded in the Bbarracuda to Sites Bros. Chrysler/Plymouth for a '68 Satellite but knowing that I'd always cherished his Barracuda, he called my mom to tell my parents and me that he had just gotten $900 for it and figured that if we wanted it, Sites Bros. would sell it to me at that price. My parents offered to lend me the money until I graduated from college and had a job, then I must pay them back. We were at Sites Bros. within 30 minutes of my dad arriving home. I was driving the Barracuda 30 minutes later. Wish I still had both cars now.

Always something, but an odd little deal this time!;)
The lower door hinge screws got sloopy n then came out :(
My rod is 28A Roadster, and with the mods made to lower part of body{lower 3in. part was removed back in 1959
{ rusty with holes,so as a teen,I cut off the holes and folded about a 1 in. under to give the bottom a bit of finish.
I then had to weld some of lower body bracing=witch made the lower door hinge screws pretty hard to get too.
Vibs over the years made them back off { and a few times,I got too them before the nuts fell off.
This time I got lazy about doing anything for too long=nut fell too who knows, and when I opened the drivers door,it was hanging off only the top hinge.
There's no way to get your finger or plyers up inside the body bracing were the hinge nuts go.
Had make a jerry-rig of 1/8 soft copper wire, around a 1/4" locknut, and glue nut into the loop,so it also had a handel about 6 in. long. Bent that tell the nut got in place and I could at the same time twist phillips tell the nut started {took a far number of trys, for each.
Went around too each hinge and made sure all snug again.:D:cool:
Back in 1959,I had given a passing thought to welding doors closed, but it passed by pretty fast, even though in would of been fast way. Happy I made them work, even more so now that I'm old n kind of need working door to get in an out and the ladys too !!.:) MarksPicof My rod.jpg

A white 64 Barracuda nearly became my first car in 1970, was at the local Chevrolet dealership, took it for a test drive and it had a noisy rearend, ended up buying the 61 Impala parked next to it.

After putting one beside the car…paint color from a factory touch up supply was way off . A guy at a car gathering aimed me to a local who mixed what he and I thought was correct….missed again. Found another that used BASF Limco I was trying to match. He gave it a shot and I went with it. The Max 2K went well with some cut and buff on a few lapped areas. I tried 3 different places for the stripping I had to mix to match to other color on the car. Wife and both liked this spot after many wipe offs. The 51 caps on our 56 car is my choice. Just need to mount up the Diamond Back white walls over at my sons on his machine and balancer; then swap off the AR Torque Thrusts for a little change. IMG_7115.jpeg

Getting ready to bolt the newly powder coated wheels w/poverty caps on the Ranch Wagon to see how they look with the fresh paint.

I think a lot of us could do with a tea spoon of Kroil in our morning coffee these days.

All complete…. Hard to take off American Torque Thrusts but 7 years I wanted a change. Our 56 Victoria looks someone else’s! Didn’t think it would be so different. The wife likes it as much as I do..I wonder what I’ll think of next! IMG_7126.jpeg IMG_7128.jpeg

Thanks but restorations don’t have off year hub caps, pinstriped wheels in 56, a Cal Rake, or a tuck & roll package tray. My intent for the last 15 years has been an all stock body, paint and factory emblems and stainless which I like on a mid fifties car. Any mechanical upgrade you can’t easily see is a big plus and our Ford has many. Thanks

I know your car is not factory stock, but from a untrained eye it would pass for that. Without a mag wheel it puts it in a sleeper class but the ones that know will pick up on that. You have a very well sorted car and I would be proud to own it as I'm sure you are.

Worked on the J, jets and 5 way harness changes and then went and topped off the fuel plus 5 in a jug in the 41

Before picking up pizza n wings for dinner in the 41 I was having a cold one and noticed the sky looked like a stage prop for a grade school play.

You asked for it. Things you can’t see. Wilwood front disc brakes, Explorer 8.8 rear end with F-150 drum brakes, 62 medium case Cruise-O-Matic, Newport electric wipers, converted stock appearing radio with hidden under car antenna, AC, dual quads with 1956 NASCAR Purolator air cleaner, 55-57 Thunderbird steel rocker covers with their own decal, stock 56 Peacock broadcloth interior in 1955 Ford convertible pattern, replica 60’s Tach on the column, and probably some things I’ve forgotten. Never left alone for 15 years!

these are custom fit to work with the relocated pulleys, as is will require special bolts and the relatively rare stock bracket.
I suppose a universal setup could be made with a bit of research and development but I would encourage you to make your own custom mount.
