Event Coverage LLOYDFEST III.... SEPTEMBER 5TH-7TH 2025

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Lloyd's paint & glass, Jan 6, 2025.

  1. Just a POV on Stubby. Why not just bring Stubby. There should be plenty of help there to get him running correctly. I am sure you can find someone to transport him down.;);););):D:D

    427 sleeper, SS327, 50chevytx and 5 others like this.
  2. Ahh yes, Buffalo Trace Distillery. Makers of Travellers Whiskey of which Country musician Chris Stapleton is an owner.

  3. That thought is in my mind especially after @Lloyd's paint & gl*** said the same thing for the G***er event over the 4th of July Holiday at the track in Southern Kentucky. I went (just in one of my trucks) & glad I didn't bring Stubby...Too much else going on! I know I could roll Stubby out on the show grounds & if we get time to work on it so be it, but was just figuring taking something that would run for the poker run. So many other things to consider, makes my head spin ....Laura, her cancer stuff, the dog, etc, etc. As far as I m a concerned as long as we are there....All Good! If all else fails, I'll drive the Avalanche, but we will be there!

By the way.. I know a transporter too, he is not homeless & doesn't currently have an arrest warrant out on him in Kentucky! LMAO:p:D:eek:

    God Bless

**** Bill, my car ain't running right. It was running perfect, hopefully i get it figured it before Friday

  5. I cant speak for everyone but I bet they feel the same as me. We would love to wrench on Stubby. It is what Lloydfest was created for. Hanging out wrenching, talking about, old cars. I can already see the pictures of every one gathered around just like the old days when we all had friends into cars. Gonna be a lot of Chevy guys there. Look at what Lloyd does on his own. He is a machine.

Hands on always make it fun for the ones that have that touch and are willing to lend a hand.

  7. You ARE speaking for all of them (Lloyd, Andy, Steve, Atch, Randy, Ron & on & on) Every one of them would be hanging over a fender thrashing if I brought Stubby!

I do miss those days when I was younger & we would end up at somebodies garage making something faster, better or just getting it running for the next weekend cruise! I always considered it an honor that I was the guy in our group that got "the call" to help as I was a few years ahead in experience. My Dad was a truck mechanic at a GMC dealership all the years I was growing up, he was also part hoarder, so all the engines & parts that went towards the dumpster at the dealership came home with him! LOL He gave me a truck 350 & said....tear it apart & see how it ticks, after I did then the teaching started. I was 13 or 14 at that time. Dad was also a hot rodder/racer, so I got all of it.

Not complaining or making excuses, but these days things are different...10-12K per month transporting, that could be double if I wanted it to be. 20-25 hours a week shopping for & preparing medicinal foods to cure Laura's cancer, 2 houses & 3 yards to keep up, elderly Parents who need stuff done for, etc, etc. I have had an amazing life & have been so blessed for so long to have had it so easy that all this stuff is kind of like my time to give back. One way or the other Stubby will run fast again, so I can beat @Lloyd's paint & gl*** in our match race sometime soon! LMAO:p:p

Glad you are coming & looking forward to meeting you next weekend!

    God Bless

Brother, this thing couldn't pull the covers off the bed tonight lol. It ran so good Thursday when I took it out. Left the shop today to go to a cruise in, stopped to get gas and it was idling around 1700rpm. Thought it was weird, but I dropped the idle down some, and it didn't wanna run. Got into town and it felt like it was running on 6 or 7. Changed plugs, little better, but I think I've developed a hellacious vacuum leak. I'm tired, pissed, and trying not to think about it. I'll look into it tmrw evening

About has to be. When I tell you it pulled twice as hard as it did in London, I'm not lying. It was a beast. Thursday evening I took Chief Mosbey for a ride, he can tell you, it was impressive. I just got home, on about 6 cylinders I'd guess.

I took Alyn out to dinner in the '48 a few nights ago after I pulled the old br*** and copper radiator out and replaced it with the new aluminum unit that was sitting in the '46 Merc. I had a heck of a time hooking up the upper hoses, but I got them on and thought I had the clamps down tight. What I didn't see was that the aluminum radiator tanks are about an inch thinner than the originals, and the stock hoses were stretched a little bit more than was necessary. We had just sat down in the restaurant when a guy came in and said that the old black car in the parking lot must have blown a radiator. Three gallons of brand-new antifreeze running down the driveway. AAA sent a rollback, so we got home okay. Next day I cut the hoses in half and found some inch and a half tube for sleeves. Had an old chrome steering column from a boat I used to have that did the trick. Yesterday, I ran the car 40 miles north to Gene McKinney's place (@ Just p***ing) and back, and it behaved like it should. It's carrying 30-35 #s of oil pressure and holding a steady 180 degrees; and the new straight pipes have that flathead rumble. We will be there for dinner Thursday night. Look forward to seeing everyone.

Tomorrow I'll change the oil in Clarence and then it'll be ready to roll. We plan to get there in time for supper on Thursday.

My dad got his masters in industrial education and I at a young age got a test of two books he gave and if I p***ed the test I could continue with the internal combustion engine life.

Just ****ing in to say I have been following the convo about Lloyd fest for a bit.
I really wish you all safe travels on getting there and getting home safe. This sounds like a really good time.
I would like to add, it would be an honor and pleasure to meet and hang out with you hoodlums. Maybe someday.
On the plus side, If I ever make it, my wife makes an excellent Chili, it won second place a few years ago, in a Chili cook-off in Frankfort,Il.

I wish I could come on Thursday, but I am staying at a state park in Ohio that night. We'll see how it goes but I'm guessing that there will be nothin going on that morning with the Navy boys, so I'll prolly leave there early to be at LF in early afternoon on Friday.

3 lifters gone. I don't think these valve springs like Chinese metallurgy. I'm shopping. Be back together soon. Howard's can **** my nuts.

  23. I’ll never use one after this. I can’t offer any brand recommendations other than I used to race Crane (R.I.P.), and Lunati. I had very good experience with Lunati.
