  23. Ringwood bowls on the Maroondah highway. Across the road Greasy Joe hamburger joint with the biggest burgers in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. '34 coupe owner was Darrol Finger. Photo is from 1967.

Those 2 door wagon rear quarters were 6" longer then the 6 1/2 Sweptside pickup boxes were, they hung out behind the pick up tailgate. Dodge should have modified the wagon tailgate and used it too, instead of using the pick up tail gate. They missed to boat on the tailgate on the Sweptside, as far as I'm concerned.

That's a good one for @Stogy thread with fixed rear fenders and cycle style fronts. Very much "early Aussie" hot rod style.

    Hello,

Sometimes, a photo needs some fine tuning. This one especially. Afterall, not only did it race in the early days, Goleta, CA 1949 at the first drag race historically noted. Won his class at the 1955 Nationals and the “America’s Most Beautiful Competition Roadster” award in 1956.

Just look at the detailing and build…

upload_2025-9-1_3-16-21.png The build inspired me to try and draw my version for an old Friday Art post...

The bright orange roadster is/was owned by Dave Marquez .

The old photo color found has been washed out. The color of Fluorescent Orange and white could be a little brighter. It was difficult to bring it back to the original color.

The orange and white roadster is/was outstanding back then. But, if a version were to be built today, the roadster would be quite notable in its own history. It definitely would deserve a coveted spot in any hot rod/drag race museum main floor, just like in 1956. YRMV

Dave Marquez with the Motor Monarchs Car Club out of Ventura, CA, at the first NHRA National Event in Great Bend, Kansas. The engine is a fuel burning flat head with an Ardun OHV conversion. This car was immaculate in every detail...

I like these itty bitty streamliners. There have been many shots of them in magazines over the years, but out on the salt alone it's hard to grasp their size. This Ford wagon helps give perspective.
