I know Chassis Research made a conversion kit but has anyone seen this modification other than that ? The only other instance Im aware of such a conversion is the LaSalle transmission.
Oval trackers did some interesting stuff, closed dive shafts fall in and out of favor in North East D.I.R.T. modifieds. The current trend is open after years of closed. I do not any photos but I had a 60s Ford Top loader Ford speed (1st and 2nd removed) that had been shorted resplined, and converted to closed drive line. It was done using a factory plate like shown in your photo. (Possibly or Halibrand C.R.E. part)
My friend Mike Gray just posted these. This is the modification I was talking about. Note the aluminum plate that replaces the tailhousing and tail tailshaft For anyone wondering this is a heal clutch. Northeast modifieds are center steer (and have been of many years) The driver right foot sits on the right side of the transmission and runs the gas pedal and makes is imposable to for the drive to depress the clutch pedal and brake pedal at the same time at first. Which is no issue once the car is under motion or at speed however in the pits is a major issue The answer was to put a handle in the car attached to the brake pedal for the driver to apply the brakes while he used his foot to push in the clutch. As the cars and chassis got narrower there was not enough room for both conventual clutch brake pedal and this became the standard.
