Most of the interior will be black, with white accents. Maybe some stainless thrown in for good measure. Time will tell!

Found an issue! Need a reservoir/vent for the quick change lube. Found a cool all aluminum catch can for $35.00. Arrived today, nice kit, a few mods and in it goes! NEXT!!!

I dig it, I'm not a big primer fan as it doesn't protect well, non UV, blah, blah, blah. I created a paint for the underside of GM F bodies that is a dark red primer looking color, matte finish, a knock off of what GM used but better because it is paint. Just a variation on your theme. Congrats on the successful drive. Really have enjoyed the build.

That another thing I like about the ruddy red paint over primer, it is easy to clean up and care for. I would just put the car up in the air, spray the underside with detailer and wipe it clean. Same look, better finish. IMO. Keep building, I'll keep watching

I have to admit that you have a great eye/imagination for detail. So what is the special formula that you concocted, or did I miss that somewhere?

You didn't miss it, I forgot it! And now I can't find the can. It's here, I'll find it while I'm looking for something else.

Here is another underside I did trying to find the right color and sheen
    primer2.jpg
This was close. The color is spot on but here I used epoxy primer and shot hardened clear over the top. Result was too shiny (I can't believe I said that). This was the product, the mix was 50/50. I should have used a little flattening agent in the clear.
    primer3.jpg
Not to steal away the thread but I paint matched these two PPG primer colors in hardened base (shop line) and cleared with Shop Line 2:1 clear (production clear) with flattening agent on later cars (like the one pictured above).

Not hard at all, I started with a glass body with a 3” chop & went another 2”. This was the first time I worked with fibre glass, it was quite easy really, good luck.

Three or four coats, good drying time. Get a towel a give a good rub, and up came a slight shine! That's the look I want. If there's rain in the forecast I will stay home and tinker with something. I also have a bunch of AMT models and a ton of old American Flyer trains to mess with!

A friend did a rotisserie paint job on an OT car. It had gray 2k paint, overspray of the exterior color in the right spots and satin clear over it all with some gloss clear fogged over the color. Very durable, easy to clean and looked factory OE.

I didn't really think so, I even hesitated to post it, but the white firewall drew me in because I thought you had that in mind.

Going through some old photos it's actually kind of hard to find the old red oxide primer color

Saw the color and completely missed the firewall. I do like that look. Picture the body belly white and bolted to the red oxide frame with black exhaust and rear axle tube.

More cream than white but the combo is a classic look

    102_6627.jpg

My other friend used some kind of old Ford color for the off white

Edit : maybe it was Wimbledon white ?

The neat part about Wimbleton White is when the guy goes "that's not a 32 Ford, there's not one thing from Ford on it", you can correct him.
I get to do that with the Ford nine inch rearend housing in my roadster.

Make that 2 things from a real 32 Ford, door latch mechanisms are original equipment, found on Hamb a few years ago! They were made to last, sturdy too.

Dealt with the quick change vent issue. Found a catch can/ breather assembly. All aluminum, screw off lower half, with an inlet and outlet with a breather for $35.00 delivered. I drilled the lower cup, tapped it and installed an AN 4 fitting. Mounted it as high as I could. Connected a -4 AN hose down to the filler port. Now when the lube expands up the line and into the catch can the rear will be vented. When it cools the lube will run back into the quick change. An added bonus is using the can on the hose to fill the rear. Time to drive it and see if my theory works. Standby!! PXL_20250914_173638989.jpg PXL_20250914_173650612.jpg

That is quite the breather! My QC just got a bolt with a hole in it. You are making good process.

There's a 3/8" pipe plug on top of the banjo housing. Problem up there isn't enough clearance, even for just a vent. Look closely at the second picture.. You can see where I put a bump up blister for more cleary. So I got creative. Also made it easy to fill. Pour the lube in the can. Wait a couple minutes. Place a clean can directly under the QC filler port. Take the hose off the fitting at the fill port. Catch the excess lube. Replace the line and you are serviced to the correct amount. Did it once before with a funnel and hose. Got messy quick!!

Truth be known I never gave a breather a thought. Cleaned, painted, installed, setup, filled and then it hit me. So the breather is an afterthought. When I take her apart for paint, I might just drill an axle tube, stick in a breather. Then the catch can stuff we be for sale on the Hamb!!!
