Similar to the Model A thread by @HOTRODPRIMER, I couldn't find a similar thread for 35-36 Ford cars and thought this would be cool.

I'm a big fan of these cars and think a lot of us here probably are too. Feel free to share the ones that speak to you.

I found this 36 roadster online, owner unknown. The slick rear 3/4 view is perfect, and the roof profile is awesome. Love it.

Got to be a 35 3 window coupe, when I was a kid there was a 35 3 window sitting in a hoarders yard that was an old hot rod. Maroon, with chromed dash, window moldings, column shift and Banjo steering wheel. No engine but 40 trans still in it, had a small block chevy at one time. Tried to buy it several times and finally it disappeared.
This isn't the car but has the same look.

Speaking of East Bay, they chopped my Coupe as well. It's still a project, but this fall/winter I will be focused on getting it road-worthy again and will be driving it by spring. East Bay's work can't be topped in my opinion.

I'm also pretty partial to 36 Fords so I'll be watching this thread!

Agreed - If I had a 35-6 it would have to be a 3w and I would want Eastbay to work on it - That guy does amazing work

My goal was to build what a 1960s, $75 a week" average Joe" would build...a mild custom '36 that you might see at an Autorama in the early/mid 60s... customized with lots of detail, chrome and accessories...but not taken too far.

I didn't want a leadsled or tail dragger (they were a little before my time) but more of a hot rod from the mid 60s Autorama's I loved. They had that "California Rake"...big & little tires, caps and rings, a dropped axle and a "heavier than stock" engine weighing the nose down.

When I was in high school in the fifties, I had a real nice low-mile '36 Deluxe flatback Tudor. That car started me on a 35 year journey to get the car of my dreams, a '36 3-window coupe. (I don't think you even have to add "coupe" if you say "3-window".) In the mid nineties, I finally fulfilled my dream. It was a Vineyard Green amateur restoration with a '34 engine and hydraulic brakes. I drove it for a while, and then went about making it "mine".

Out came the '34 engine and transmission, to be replaced by a 276ci '50 Merc, with Offy heads, a 390 Holley, an Isky MAX-1 cam, and an MSD ignition, (among other things) and a rebuilt '39 transmission with later gears and new bearings and synchronizers. A run through of the brakes along with some "regular" Merc wheels with 15" bigs and littles, and I was in business.

I kept the car for about ten years, and sold it to an acquaintance who made me a decent offer. I'd had my thrill and was done with the car. The worst thing was the drive train. Whoever built the engine did a hell of a good job, and it made plenty of power. So much in fact that it could easily over power the drive train. My transmission held up well enough, but not the axles. To this day, I hope I never see another tapered Ford axle ever again. It was also very cramped. I'm not an overly large person (at that time 6' and 240 lbs.) but I never could find a comfortable driving position in that car. Also, the beautiful "banjo" steering wheel had a rim that was so thin that my hands cramped up in less than an hour of driving.

I was glad to have it, but also glad to see it go. Looking back, if I had my choice of the two, I'd be much happier with the low mile slant-back than the hopped up coupe. After the coupe, I had a brief lusting for a Sedan Delivery, but a test drive in one cured thar pretty quickly.

Wayne Mahaffey's Phaeton has always been one of my favorites. It was auctioned off two or three years ago and I would be really interested in knowing who ended up with it, I would love to talk to them...

If anyone here knows the current owner, please PM me.
