Technical What are you working on?

Finish dialing in my new headers and getting my 29 roadster on 32 rails ready for rpm nationals, at Santa margarita ranch in a few weeks.

 

Custom grill and Lucas lights for the front of my Riv.

 

Clicked on @JCARRILLO 's thumbnail of his headers and it, @Johnny Gee 's and @K13 's thumbnails all showed up together below it without any of their names. It's early, I haven't finished my first cup of coffee, and all is good until I see the front of the Riv. Now I'm thinking, "Why would you go to all that trouble to stick a flathead in a Riviera?"

I’m stuck painting the outside of my house I’m jealous that you guys are having more fun than me……..

 

I am in the process of reconditioning my engine lift, I have had this thing for over 40 years and it has earned it's keep. It has no real value but I thought I would prop it up so the next guy can take it to the century mark .

Thanks Impala4speed for your kind comments, I am happy with how the mufflers have turned out. I decided to make my own mufflers as this car needs to meet quite strict noise requirements for registration and running a healthy supercharged SBC this was always going to be an issue. So I decided that I would fill up as much space as I could with muffler, these mufflers are 750mm long, 175mm wide and are made using a 4 inch pipe cut in half, inlet and outlet is 3 inch ( whole system will be 3 inch and finish out the side before back wheel ). curious to how did you design the mufflers / references / technical info ? that's real hotrodding there...thanks

 

I’m like you I build all of my chambered mufflers after we blew one up from a nitrous backfire You can build them a lot cheaper and tailor them to fit your needs. Those should sound pretty good being a small but long 5 chamber 3” and let the motor breath

 

were you able to finish those in 2 days??? I'm thinking more like 4????

 

My design brief included, available space, engine specifications and internet searches on muffler types, I decided that a perforated pipe and chamber design were the best of both worlds ( I hope I am right ). Glen

 

Yep, 2 full days, day 1 cutting and drilling holes, day 2 assembly and welding, day 2 1/2, I run out of gas for welder on day 2, all work done with angle grinder, mill / drill and tig welder. Glen

Thats correct, I built these to suit my needs, after watching lots of YouTube videos and internet searches, I decided on this design as suiting my blown SBC and registration needs, I feel these will work well - time will tell. Glen

I swapped tires around on rims for the 57



and chased an oil leak on the twisted 307



Then stacked skinny front runners with rubber into one stack, that's a little to tall LOL

 

Since I have no use for a heater, clock or obsolete radio, I made a radio delete plate and a stainless panel, using the old heater control cable and knob as a manual choke control, then added a vacuum gauge...after which, I changed the oil in my Tacoma.

 

Roll up ear plugs are one friends when trying to experiment with fire . I have been there a couple of times . Hope all is well , my friend

 

I think that is a very good idea especially when you are welding, grinding etc in a position where you could get slag or a hot spark in your ear.

Get him a welding cap. when he is laying on his side welding have him spin the hat around, so the bill is covering the ear that is pointing up.
