Almost 21 years here and almost 80 years young, like a lot of us I wonder where the years went. It truly seems like the blink of an eye.
Well, I turned 79 on Sept 1, and I will celebrate my 23rd HAMBerversary on Sept 12. 23 years! So yes, guilty on both counts your honor.
Was at a cruise night some years back with a bunch of guys I had been going to cars shows with for forty plus years. We were standing around shooting the bull about old times and the old hot rod guys who mentored us through the years. It was then that one of the guys looked at us all and said I guess WE are the old guys now.
Im sorta stuck in the middle of old and Old as FK!!!! Been on this one over 20 before the crash... Been over there at Corvette Fkm for 25..now theres ya real trip for aszhole status if ya need one..And then over there on ChevyTalk with all my 59-60 chevy guys... dont know where they are now..... MOSTLY always LURKING and working on other cutomers cars in my shop..... Finally slowed down to do just a few for my loyal longtime people and FINALLY DO MINE!!!!!!! My kids know where all the parts are!!!!! LOL (Still FULLTIME @ GE)..... How the HELL did i work on so many cars!!!
Funny name, all the cars you have owned. It would take me days. And I would still forget some. I will try to increase my post count. LOL Just kidding.
Started here in 2004, stuck around for about 6 years; then life got in the road. Came back under a slightly different name in 2015 and yeah, I'm an old guy...
Been here 11yrs. Turned 82 on Tuesday. Granddaughter draw a card for my birthday each year. This year’s:
Half the guys on here are over 70, some of us in our 80's We actually grew the rod and custom world as kids. As for me I've had 3 Cords, 2 Graham Hollywoods, 3 Ford tubs, a 34 ford roadster, a 49 Chevy truck, a 60 Chevy convert, a 53 Buick Skylark, and 3 66 Toronados. Ray Vegas 38 Ford tub and Norm Grabowski cruised our school parking lot pretty regular. We were lucky kids to be at the right time and place growing up. JW
Been have'n fun on the HAMB for 20 years, and have loved every minute of my time here... I'm old enough that I've lost so many good friends that I don't like to think about it. But then again, it's all those great memories that keep us going. I have restored hot rods, sports cars, customs, and race cars. I currently have a Model A coupe, built back in the early 50's, a '59 Custom 300 with a 406/4-spd, a '53 Ford gasser (broke out with an 11.66 on an 11.69 dial just last night), and my newest is a '56 Tbird, sold new in Mexico City to a guy who would later become President of Mexico. I bought it from his granddaughter, and it has a 302/SROD 4-sp, installed back in the early 80's. I didn't feel old 'till Rod Emory called me a couple weeks back, to tell me his Dad Gary had passed the night before. Gary has been an icon in the custom car, hot rod, and Porsche world forever. His Dad was Neil Emory of Valley Custom, and Rod builds 356 Outlaws.... Gary's passing has taken a toll on me, and at 81, I finally feel mortal.
My friend reminds me that at 76 I AM one of the old people.. I then remind him that he is 6 months older than me..
Been on here since 2002! I’m 82 and still doing it with old fords. The hamb continues to be a source of info and entertainment Thanks Ryan!!
Joined the Hamb in January 3, 2003 at the age of 52, It's now 2025 and I'm 75 years old, yeah I'm a old fart. HRP
I signed up in late '02 when I got my first Model A. I was 24 years old. I just lurked and eventually forgot my login stuff, so I made this account in May 2003. I'll be 47 in 10 days.... jeez time flies.
Turned 81 September 4, and while I've only been here for 8 years, every time I log onto this site, I feel like I am in my 20's again. I've forgotten so much over the years, but there are a lot of good people on here to remind me or teach me.
Here I am! Joined Feb. 2006. I will be 56 this October, so not such an old guy. Got my health, hair, family, and a couple of cars. What I don't have is enough time! I find now in life, I have the resources for all those dreams and wishes of my teens, 20's and 30's, but I don't have the time to bring those dreams and wishes into reality that I had in those earlier years. Dang!
In the words of a very good old friend,... "THIS AIN'T NO DRESS REHEARSAL" If you have the skill, desire and resources,... Make time for it now. or some day in the near future, when everything is increasingly more psychically difficult, You'll be plagued with the dreaded "geez,... I wish I woulda" state of mind. If you can't find time to build it,.... Buy it, enjoy it... and kill lots of bugs with it. (IMHO)
