    Lookin' sharp! Had maroon one myself, a '69. Got totaled when rear-ended at red light, in '73. :(

    Looks amazing! '68 taillights are so perfect, the way they are part of the rear trim treatment. '68 442's had it right as well.

    Here again is my 66 SS Chevelle.
    More of the story behind this 66.
    I traded my 71 Chevy Nove to my cousin for his 68 SS Chevelle 396 auto Th400 car the 68 SS Chevelle engine was in several baskets. I needed a driver badly as my 73 Chevy Nove 4 door I6 power glide bit the dust. I had a friend Chuck that worked for Maxi-Muffler who had his 66 SS Chevelle up for sale so we made a deal to swap Chevelle's, I know he got the better deal but I didn't have extra money to put into the 68 SS Chevelle and his 66 SS Chevelle was running and I could drive it away and be happy or I thought so. About a few miles down the road the 66 stopped running, no gas to the Holley Carb, we waited for awhile and tried to get it running it started right up again as before, the 66 did this all the way home about 10 miles away. We finally got her back home and I started working on it and found several cracks in the gas line, ran to our neighbor's place Marquis Auto Salvage Yard and found a Chevelle that had a nice clean gas line bought it from Grubby for $5 bucks and back across the field we went. I was working in the dark and it was raining, I took off all the bad gas line and replaced it with the good used gas line, I fired up the 66's 283 put in 1st gear went around the house with no headlights and hit the Elm tree, in the background of the picture of my poor 66 you can see the Elm tree looking humble as can be like nothing happened. You can see Chuck took a plastic grill from a 75 Nova and made it "fit" bcuz he didn't want to buy the Aluminum 66 Chevelle grill, I had a 66 Chevelle grill in the barn and was planning on putting it to good use but after hitting the Elm tree I was burned out. A school friend of mine wanted the 66 SS Chevelle the way it sat and I again traded the 66 SS Chevelle to him for his 1975 Monte Carlo, it wasn't a Street Rod but it was very clean no rust and drove great. That's the short story of my two week long car swapping adventure to finally get a car to drive to work and take my young family to see the In-laws every weekend.
    Some times a man has to do what he has to do, even if it seems crazy to read now it happened and I was thankful to have a vehicle to drive once again.

    Scotty T, what a Great Looking 68 SS Chevelle, it was a great read, hope to see & read the "Rest of the Story" soon.
    A video of her running and then you driving her down the road would be sweet.

    I would love to Have another 66. My first car was a 66 ss Chevelle. It had a 389 out of a GTO in it. Man that car was rough and smoked like a tar kettle. I sure do miss that ride.

  21. Something is going on with the paint, there’s “cloudy” spots in the paint. It’s super straight and smooth but there are spots all over, looks to be under the clear like maybe the sealer and base coat didn’t agree. I’m not a painter so this is just wild ass guess on my part.     Yikes! Assuming it just showed up after being painted a while? I have seen similar but not that showed up later. Usually solvent pop or contamination in airstream shooting the paint shows up fairly quickly.

  25. Usually means paint laid too thick with too much moisture in the air. Often scuffing and respraying clear coat can fix it after it's fully gassed

    I'm not a car painter.
    I painted Epco Industrial painting, it was used on Big Housings & Big Squirrel Cages for Blowers that y'all see on top of Factories, Schools & Fast Food Buildings a two part paint, first coat goes on white than gets baked on at 400° for several hours it comes out a tan yellow then cooled down for several hours, the second coat is the cover coat ours was green this was also baked on the same way then let stand for cooling, it was a very durable hard paint.
    What's fully gassed mean?

    That's when the pain has cured, the solvents have gassed out of the paint.

    Thank you. Thats what the Walk In Oven did to the Epco paint to make it cure harder right.
    What a shame, hope scotty t can get it all worked out, that 68 Chevelle looks great in that Silver and clear coat.
