I'd like to suggest a license plate for the car when you do get it together...........JIGSAW :)

Looking forward to watching your progress and hope it comes together well for you.

Great for a 6 digit state. If it's 7 digits, I'd offer WELDROD!:)

Thank you, I'll be away from the car for about 2 weeks and I keep looking at the last pix I posted and wonder if the rear section of the roof needs to come down a little. Opinions are welcome.

I don't think so. Personally I think they get too boxy/squished looking with a heavy chop if the front and rear are the exact same height. I like what you've got going.

man, really cool... The best way to figure out if it is right or not is to roll it outside and step way back from it... Looks fantastic to me though... carry on!

  10. Amazing what can be accomplished by just jumping in and going for it. Great progress and looking great. Following along to see what’s next.

Very nice sheet metal work, it's definitely a process to piece in the panels and have it come out so nice. I'm 63 and was in high school for autobody and I had a teacher who was old school and he taught us how to do lead work it's something you never forget even if you don't do it that often .:)

It looks like there’s a small hump (inside the circle) is that an optical illusion?

The straight portion of the window surround (in the rectangle) looks off to me. The factory three-door has a subtle curve there.

I'm concerned about the hump, I think it looks to full if that makes sense. I may have to get a better look when I get back to work, The door top doesn't bother me as much, I think there is only about1/4' to 3/8 " of rise in the blue box.

Will you be able to install door glass through the window opening?

It seems @3wLarry was never able to install door glass in his deuce 3 window as the window opening was too low.

Great work, it does make some of us a little jealous because we can’t do this. Thanks for the pictures and descriptions of your work.

I think it looks badass…considering what you started with, I certainly would not sweat a small rise or a hump or perceived humb.

Grab a smooth Black trash bag and 'wrap' the area with it and stand back.
You might even spray some Gibbs or such to make it 'stick'. Even a light water based glue if you aren't done sanding.
Quick and cheap way to visualize a finish. Should show issues.

I've ben thinking about that, not near the car right now, but if I have to I might make the upper 2 or 3 inches of the inner door skin removable. I'll see what happens.

Don't have to copy but maybe dig up a few pictures of Rolling Bones 33/34 3 windows and check their side roof profiles compared to yours.

removable would be great..my 32 when they chopped it they left the door glass too long to get out, then slid the glass up and welded welded stops to not let it roll too far... they thru bolted billet mirrors, then weld every thing... couldn't get in there with an allen wench to get the mirrors out...and can't replace the door glass if it ever breaks... hair pulling experience to get the mirrors off... lots of WTF went on...

Gary, I've looked at a lot of pictures of heavily chopped 33-34's, I think I need to bring the top down and thumbnail (55).jpg forward like the blue line in the picture

Your top is lower, but here is a profile of the Kalifornia Kid. The back of the roof appears to be somewhat in the same plane as the raised area behind the door. Parallel ? The-California-Kid-LR-RGB-300x157.jpg

Good question.............Maybe make the inner door panel have a removable section that screws in place holding the window brackets and stuff.
