I've wanted to put something on here for ages. Here it is being Friday...the Friday Art Show still exists. I am still working on this but it's almost finished. Hand painted and airbrushed. Cut out of masonite with a jigsaw all while listening to KISN.FM who plays the best oldies music here in town. I was waiting till I did something that included a car. I feel this one does just that. Respect to Ed Roth! A bloody legend!

IMG_2777.jpeg IMG_2741.jpeg Got this 7” tall Lucky Tiki at a junk shop last weekend. He wasn’t so Lucky had a hole in his left calf , cracked right leg and a cracked base . I glued him back together and JB Weld in the hole . But I didn’t stop there . I’ve made him some feet out of JBWeld . I’m probably going to do more changes to his body

I like seeing the progression of an art project, gives us non artists insights on how its done. Similar to a build thread here on the HAMB. Thanks for posting your art and your process.

Christopher Cross “Ride Like The Wind” with a Plymouth Barracuda as the main character…

    upload_2025-9-19_3-16-3.png
    Hello,

I was doing some research on a Plymouth Barracuda from 1964. It was a wonder that the sedan was not so popular. A dual purpose sedan if one wanted to slide in a long surfboard inside with the rear trunk open. At first, one thinks the whole glass sloping window would go up with the surrounding trunk lid.

That idea would have sold a ton of fancy fastback glass Plymouth Barracudas alone… But, the so called designers tricked the public thinking they would be smarter and have a trunk that opens like a regular short model opening. Which it was…

They called it an “everything opening.” Yes, if one lowers the back seat back support, the open space is now large enough for a short board. The photo artwork is tricky. The surfboard is not listed as 7 feet. But, the surfboard instantly makes folks think it is 7 feet. The overall space is “7 feet of carpeted space.”

No way was a 9 foot average surfboard going to fit.

Back then in 1964, the average surfboard was 9 feet and only a custom made shorter 6 foot surfboard was not created for 2+ more years. So, were those frumpy designers thinking ahead two years?
    upload_2025-9-19_3-16-55.png

No, they just made the drop down door nicer. No lifting rear sloping window and trunk combination. It would have been a larger opening for all purposes, not just for ease of inserting a longer surfboard at the time. Sheesh, 30 years later, even my 6’8 inch surfboard would have a hard time fitting in place, unless it turns sideways and slides in between the seats. False advertising… for sure.

But, that first design lacked power and the design, as cool as it was, lacked the family convenience uses. YRMV

A custom hot rod build of a 1964 Plymouth Barracuda:

Larger v8 motor, dual quads, 4 speed, headers, and a lifting one piece rear window/trunk area.

Now, bring on those longer surfboards... YRMV

Yep, "two" so far, @rusty1 is goofing with us, as the pictures are a bit out of focus, making it hard for us geezers with magnifying glasses to try to see the finer detail !
