Wanted to see it before everything was sold next week. So drove to Chicago from Dayton, there and back today. Here’s all my pictures. IMG_2130.jpeg IMG_2072.jpeg IMG_2071.jpeg IMG_2070.jpeg IMG_2034.jpeg IMG_2033.jpeg IMG_2129.jpeg IMG_2126.jpeg IMG_2127.jpeg IMG_2128.jpeg

Thanks for the photos. I visited the Collection last year.
That was a pretty ambitious one day road tour.

I see Mecum got rid of the mannequins, good move. I will be at the auction on Saturday, should be interesting because everything is no reserve.

Wanted to leave Saturday, had family in town. Knew I wasn’t going to make the auction. Main thing aside from the collection was I wanted to see the golden Sahara again. Knew Jim, he was a customer of mine. Usually come in every once and awhile for some parts or just to come in and talk. Use to bring in magazines with his things in it, talk about them. His radar security building is actually right behind where my garage is. Had a few buddies that were working out of there, at that time he was having an 49? Cadillac being worked on. After Jim passed away, West Carrollton condemned the building. It ended up being sold to Kettering medical. So I helped with them moving everything out. Saw the car then and when they sent it to auction. Haven’t had the chance until now to see it in person restored, just online.

Would like to make the auction but I already had plans. You going just to watch or there to buy? A lot of stuff in there at no reserve. I assume some good buys at one point. Curious what everything will go for.

Spectator. I have a friend who is a registered bidder and is allowed one guest pass. I have my eye one Microcar, (Messerschmitt KR) I looked at it closely a few years ago and it is a good candidate for one of my restorations, trouble is I have three of them now one being on deck for a restoration. I will keep my hands behind my back so I am not tempted.
Mecum lists the selling price (including fees) on their web site post auction.

Yeah I feel like unless something really did go under the radar and cheap. About the only thing I’d be able to get there is a sign. I’d like to see the micro cars you have. That was a neat room there, more than I ever knew about.

Thanks a bunch for making that trip and for taking and posting all the photos! You packed a lot into one day!
Had no idea about the extent of this collection and didn't know it was being put up for auction, I might have to do some follow-up to see how things went.

"Money has no real value, unless it's spent"

Mr. Klairmont spent his money very, very, well indeed!

Thanks for taking the time to go there and shoot these great photographs, of a great collection of beautiful machines!
