I ruined one of those as a kid. I was 11 or 12 and a school friend was staying over and we decided to work on it. Dad said to just wait, he went to bed and we stayed up most of the night working on it. We got it about 40% together and it wouldn’t turn over. Dad was not impressed. My friend and I still talk about it to this day. lol. He turned out a car guy too and has a ‘58 Apache.

Built one around 1959 or '60 when I was 13. Had it until 2019 when we downsized & moved south. Still regret getting rid of it.

When I was a kid, I had the engine and the whole chassis it went into.

I have a Renwal visible chassis with the engine . The transmission shifts and the gears in the rear axle work too IMG_5873.jpeg

If someone gets one of these and decides to build it I hope he uses the right lube and breaks the cam in properly.

Now I had a similar kit that was the Transmission that shifted gears that went through a driveshaft into the Differential. Both Axles and Drum Brakes. All this was mounted in a auto chassis, hand crank driven. Transmission Differential and Drums were clear plastic to see their inner workings

    Had one in, I think, 62 or 63 when I was 11 or 12.

Built it on Christmas Day. I’m not sure if it actually taught me much about engines that I didn’t already know, though.

It hung around until I got married and moved out in 1972, then disappeared when my folks moved a couple of years later.

II never asked about it, as I was more distressed at the disappearance of my 40 Ford Deluxe grill, the hood bird from my 55 BelAir, and the original 4150 Autolite carb from my 65 Mustang 289/225 hp.

I built the Revelle on in about 77 or 78. My mom threw it away about a month later. I was heartbroken, it worked great. The little lights for the spark plugs even worked. :(

  16. I still have mine. I haven’t tried to run it in many years.

I built my first version in the mid 1960’s by myself. I had already built many models….mostly 1/24 scale, so I wasn’t a novice. However, by the time I was finished with it, I could barely get it to rotate. Since everything was already glued together, there was no fixing the problem.
Some 4 or 5 years later I decided to buy the kit again and have another go at it. With special attention to the details, including much filing and sanding of the many parts, I successfully completed the project and it worked perfectly. Like most of my models, the lack of proper storage, the direction of my interests (ie girls and motorcycles and cars), plus my mother’s efforts to tidy up my room, resulted in the general disappearance of almost all of them…..including the working Visible V-8 model. Such is life!

My youngest brother got one for Xmas when he was 9 or 10. He worked on it for a few days straight and did a good job on it.

We had a finished basement where he built it. He was bringing it upstairs to show it off...and he dropped it.

It sheared off the transmission. We tried whatever glues we had available in 1968 or so. I have to ask him what finally happened to it.

I found the one that I have (chassis kit) new in the box at the St Cloud Pantowners swap meet, unbuilt in the original box about 10 years ago for 20 bucks... yeah 20 bucks... Rather than leave it in the box I went ahead and built it. There were a few parts missing, but I eventually found them on Ebay. The picture above it is still missing the tail housing on the trans. I did get one and it is on there now

I still have mine that I built in the early 60s. It's in a box safely stored away.
I recently got a 3d printer, maybe I'll make some speed parts for it. :)

I tried building an 80’s re-issue of the visible V8. The parts were so warped from old molds that when the rotating assembly rotated on a test run with the included electric motor the block wallered and flexed until it broke apart. That was the end of my Visable V8 build.

I’ve never seen the monogram engine or the 1/8 scale cars before.

Wait a minute. There's a swap meet specifically for people that own pants?
