You might discover that you'll need to either rework spring mounts, or put shims under the front axle once you've mounted the solid axle. The angle of your centering pins is pretty steep, unless the front axle is a tube axle that you're welding perches to? Going to have quite a kingpin angle if it's a typical I beam donor axle with perches cast into it.
Looking forward to watching this build go forward!

Put the shackles in the front and you will put the spring/axle in a comfortable angle.

What are your plans for the transmission and rear end?

Lol, I almost posted that there's a debate about where to put the shackles, in the front or back.

This thread has my three favorite things, a Shoebox Ford, a street/strip car, and a young feller with lots of enthusiasm building it!!:D:D

Always, on that setup I'd be concerned with the shackle hitting the downward angle of the frame during compression

You should get one of these emblems for your dash.

hard to beat the 8.8 - they are everywhere, easy to narrow, most come with a posi and good gear ratio.....and are basically a 12 bolt clone - good choice - I have a 3.11 sag here, too bad Im not closer.......carry on!

Way to go Bill. Knowing you, I thought you might step up. I am following his thread and watching what Chandler might be able to use. I don't like to mess with selling stuff, but if someone can use something I have and am not using, I will gladly donate it. Ron

No way, you would probably put a Chevy motor in it. Lol. But, if you buy it, it's yours to do as you wish. I would sell it, but on the otherhand, if I could only keep one of my cars, it would be the Gasser.
Ps. The last motor that was in it was a 301 sbc. But, as I understand, it was never raced.

Alright, back to Chandler''s '51 Gasser. Ron

  16. Me Too!!! It needs a 427!!

  17. I've got one!

Late 60's Corvette 13.5-1 with cast iron square port heads ...ran 10.90's in a 69 Camaro with a T-400, cheater slicks & traction bars back in 1980! Always thought it would be the engine I put in the Nova if & when I ever got it back together, but is much too small these days. Have no idea what I will do with it now that I decided not to put any more money into Stubby for the time being anyway.

That trans blanket I left in the dumpster at Lloydfest was from that setup! LMAO!:p

    God Bless
    Bill

Heck go for broke and build a mountain motor 600+ cubic inches and spray the house down!:D

  20. I didn’t specify which 427. I love Chevrolets, but the FE 427 Ford is just plain cool.

Huh? What happened? The room started spinning, I got dizzy and threw up. I could hear @alanp561 laughing at me with that deep voice! Then it went dark! And i woke up listening to a philco radio! What a crazy dream
