  4. Hey Folks,

I didn't get a chance to get my thoughts about LF III down before I headed out on the road, but today is my "Zombie Day" & finally have some time to post. Hard to put into words all of the things I want to say without it sounding Dopey or Corny, so I will try to keep it as short as possible & start out with my FAVORITE saying......"We Have The Greatest Folks In The World In Our Hobby!"

BIG shout out to my Brother @Lloyd's paint & glass for hosting an Amazing get together that is my Absolute Favorite of the year! This year was much easier on me as Laura was NOT in the wheelchair like last year, so I was able to relax a bit more.

All the folks who are "3 Year Veterans" as well as the folks who have made it to more than one...Please know I look forward to spending time with each & every one of you when we get together. I cannot list you all , because I would feel like shit if I forgot somebody in that list & I know I would!

To the "Newbies" ....So glad you all came & I enjoyed spending time shooting the bull with you all! I'll try to list : @CycleTech , @Cosmo49 , @Greg Rogers , @The_Cat_Of_Ages , @enloe 's friend Darrin, @50chevytx 's 2 sons who rode over 900 miles with him!.....Again I hope I did NOT forget anybody!

Thanks @tim troutman for letting me put Laura in your T-Bird to see if she would be comfortable before I buy her one. (hopefully for next year)

A big shout out to @Truckdoctor Andy, Tonya & Chandler for all you did to make this years show a great success! On a personal note.....You both have raised one hell of a great kid! I (again this year) was so impressed with Chandler. Last year when Laura was in the wheelchair, I had barely gotten out of the truck & he was right there offering to help me get her & her stuff over to the pavillion. This year on Sunday morning when we got there to load AGAIN he was right there offering to help bring my unsold parts up to the trailer! Laura noticed his respectful ways as well & I know she pulled him aside & offered some advice & encouragement.:)

Thanks to @chevy57dude Steve for the heater so that Laura could stay out on Saturday night. The meds & surgery cause some circulation issues & if it were not for your generous offer of the propane heater, she probably would have not been able to stay....Means ALOT Brother!

A special thanks to @enloe & @deathrowdave for their encouragement, their dealings with cancer & offers of "being there" if I needed them!!! Again...Greatest Folks In The World In This Hobby! Also thanks to EVERYONE who treated our dog Gucci so well. I was worried about bringing him on the off chance that someone did not like or was afraid of dogs. Not the case & he had a blast wandering around getting petted & fed more human food than he normally gets in a year! LOL:p At 11 years old, he was pooped out after being there all day Friday.

@John B Thanks for the great video & your contributions! Sorry you & Jessie did not get to stay longer, but enjoyed seeing you both for a short time & I know Gucci enjoyed having Zander play with him.

I don't take many pictures, but here are a few. The last two I call "The Morning After Group" at Irish Hills on Sunday.

Already looking forward to LLOYDFEST 2026.....Be There Or Be Square!

    God Bless
    Bill

Bill, good to see you and Laura again this year. But that photo of me makes me look like an old man. Oh, wait, I forgot, I am an old man. Just don't tell my brain, my body already knows. I do use a mobility scooter but not ready for a walker yet. Just folding that one up, Ron

  6. Sorry about that Ron,

It was the only picture of your car & that really cool Aluma trailer I had!:p

I was glad to see both you & Lois doing great & enjoying life. If your cross country travels put you close to Northern Ohio, let me know & Laura & I will take you both to lunch/dinner!

Be careful with that scooter & watch out for speakers & Gucci's toes! LMAO (inside joke!)

    God Bless

Fuhgeddaboudit Guillermo! My heart still aches that we didn't get to put flesh to flesh when you rolled through my turf not long ago. Next time you happen down the super-slab don't forget to give me a bell. It pleases me that you liked and appreciated my minor contribution to your festivities. I made those for family. Youse guys are my family.

  8. i placed my Torch trophy on the shelf at the top of the stairs leading into my room, i get a nice good look at it every time i go to bed. it really is a beautiful trophy.

Glad you like that one. I was worried when I made it that the torch may be too heavy for it to sit stable on the base that I poured. I did some basic calculations taking into consideration the weight, height, gravitational pull, atmospheric pressure and orbitational anomalies prior to setting the upright in the base. I got it pretty close.

  10. honestly the only thing i noticed after i got home was that the torch igniter has a small crack surrounding the curve inside the epoxy. kinda neat how its settling. its a good strong trophy, did you engine turn the backing for the torch yourself?

  12. Thank You Sir!:D

Believe it or not there is a FB group for them called "Shorty Aficionados". My Buddy Johnny Sweet built several over the years & pictures of some of his builds are on there.

Drove Stubby 100 miles round trip to a big Thursday Night cruise ( the boss lady said I had to since it is the 2nd last at that venue this year & I will not be in town for the last one). I don't know which is tougher...Driving Stubby that far or bouncing around the property cutting 5 acres with the zeroturn! LMAO.

Go find a small, maybe 30/40 HP diesel tractor and a 5/6 foot bush hog mower.

Heck, I only have an acre now, but that’s what I use:)

  14. Dad has one of those that is only 2 years old & even at 86 he still uses it to cut the rest of the property, but the front yards need to at least look decent & tractors like that tend to "Rut" the yard when they turn.

Well, truck monkeyed up again, this time had to call a wrecker... I need to drop tank and maybe order another, I'm pretty sure suction tube is clogged again. I think maybe little China girl may have partially clogged the suction tube on bottom of tank went it was welded- this has happened before. You cant reach thru 2 " sender hole to do anything with it, you can't even see the end of tube... 20250920_180217.jpg I blew it out and it worked again, but now I think it is clogged.. Anyway it's back home and gonna get at it...

I was wrong... wasn't a fuel problem this time- ignition. Hooked up timing light and when it quits so does light. Hopefully get figured out tomorrow.

  21. What kind of ignition system are you using?

Andy, has a 78 or so duraspark. I carry around a extra new Ignition box and changed that- no change. I get weird readings checking the ignition coil- seems fine between two low voltage terminals, but bounces from open to some resistance from secondary tower to either low voltage. Gonna get a new coil. If not that I'm guessin' pickup coil.

Once again I want to thank all who pitched in and helped me on my truck problem. Now, could it have been a ignition problem all along? When we had carb off and disassembled we found no restrictions, etc., but truck wouldn't rev or pull a load... Suddenly it started running fine WTF? Rain quit, everything was drying out.... hmmmm... Truck ran great all the way home- pulling trailer. Then this trip where it quit and wouldn't restart at all- found bad coil - replaced it, runs great again!!???... I think it is fixed, but not trusting it to go far from home....

The "ran poorly when it was raining out, but ran fine after it quit raining" would cause me to start looking for what was shorting out when it gets wet. Could be defective plug & coil wires wires, or a place where the wires for the ignition system may be in the line of water running under he hood someplace.
Think I would fire it up on a nice dry day, be sure its running great, and drag out the garden hose and see how it does with water splashing under the hood. Your "wet weather" issue could also be caused from a problem with wiring passing through the firewall. A defective coil could have been your problem, but the garden hose may cause the problem to show up at home, in the driveway, where its much easier to find and fix. I have also seen where a paper air filter was getting wet in a rain storm, and would choke out the amount of air that could pass through it, you could have both, a wet weather carb and wet weather ignition problem.

See it's a funny thing. Years back i belonged to the NSRA, and they provided a "phone book" called the "fellow pages". Listed by state and city of my memory is correct. If you had car problems, those folks that agreed to have their number listed would come help out. I have said that we need something like that here. I save every number of my hot rodder friends. Never know.

  29. That’s a darn good idea!
