That is a tricky piece to make with all of the compound curves. I sure you will get it done and looking good.

I am not 100 % happy with the result, Charlie's shop is limited in metal working tools. I did it with a cheap mig, left and right tin snips, a grinder, a couple hammers and a vice.

made Charlie some patch panels for the doors at my shop. image4.jpeg image3.jpeg image2.jpeg image1.jpeg used my break to bend the bead and return then used the shrinker to put the arch in it.

I also made a set of rain gutters. I had made a stencil of the shape of the door and used it as a guide. I folded the outer side over, then bent the return, used the shrinker and stretcher to shape it to the door stencil, the folded the flange straight across that will get welded along the roof over the door image0.jpeg image1.jpeg image2.jpeg

Charlie has been busy, I stopped by today to check out his progress. he got the head light bar and lights mocked up and wired them to the original A switch. image0.jpeg
tires and rims really changed the look

I like the new tires and rims but I liked the vibe of Charlie using "what he had" . Charlie is going to sell them and use the cash for parts he can use.

then we decided to add some stake pockets, so we cut some square tube to size. image2.jpeg also will add another piece to extend the angle and weld a length of tube to the edge to finish it off.
I will do that at my shop so I can clamp it all flat to the bench.

I read all the responses and "likes" to Charlie, he really enjoys fact that other people are enjoying the build. your "holding judgement" made him reflect on how the bed was coming out, he found the metal from a previous build and decided to change the bed.
FYI I agreed with the change, we would have found a way to make it look fine, but the metal is a better direction.

  27. Hot rodding the original design- build concept. Try something, change it if it doesn’t suit. You all have a good sense of proportion.

  28. I feel some what sheepish, thinking that I have input from behind the keyboard. In no way do I think it is right to tell other people what to build. I am however happy to chime in on something I like, and for sure I like this build. I wish I was closer and could spend some time on my back with rust in my eyes, giving you guys a hand.

The input is all good and appreciated, there is no right or wrong on this build. It follows no rules and isn't expected to be anything but a pile of parts and pieces assembled to resemble a vintage truck.
Something from nothing that could be redone, rebuilt, restored, rebodyed , or used till it is recycled.
